PRO BONO WITH LCBH
Last year, LCBH volunteer attorneys, interns, and volunteer paralegals donated over $1,500,000.00 in legal services to LCBH tenant families.
Pro Bono with LCBH offers you the opportunity to provide a valuable service for a family in need while you hone your legal skills in a variety of areas including litigation, negotiation and client communication. LCBH provides training in-depth training manuals, legal support, and works with attorneys and law students with all levels of experience.
NEW! TENANTS IN FORECLOSURE INFORMATION DESK LCBH is staffing an information desk on the 14th floor of the Daley Center, M-Th 8:45 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., to assist tenants facing eviction as a result of living in a building in foreclosure and may not be aware of their rights under the federal, state, and local law. The Information Desk aids to increase awareness, provide self-help alternatives, and legal representation when appropriate.
TENANT ADVOCACY PROJECT The Tenant Advocacy Project provides low-income Chicago renters with non-litigation assistance on a wide range of landlord-tenant related issues including conditions and habitability concerns, utility taps, utility shut-offs; illegal lockouts. This clinic is conducted in the LCBH offices and volunteers are supervised by LCBH attorneys.
THE ATTORNEY OF THE DAY EVICTION DEFENSE PROGRAM The Attorney of the Day Program (AOD) is the only in-court volunteer project operating daily and exclusively in the Daley Center eviction court. Thanks to volunteer attorneys, in 2010 LCBH was able to represent 335 tenant families with a total savings for tenants of $472,347 in rent waived and damages awarded. Volunteer attorneys appear in court once a month to represent LCBH clients or may take on a full case start-to-finish.
