An Introduction to Lausanne Collegiate School
Lausanne Collegiate School, located at 1381 West Massey Rd. in East Memphis, is a coeducational, college preparatory, PK2–12 grade International Baccalaureate World School whose student body represents 65 different countries. The average number of students in a classroom setting is 14 and Lausanne’s student to teacher ratio is 7:1. Its mission is to “prepare each of its students for college and for life in a global environment.” Lausanne develops the individual intellects, talents, creativity and character of boys and girls through student-centered teaching; global diversity; and encouraging, challenging and engaged learning. After years of exploring different subjects and co-curricular activities, Lausanne graduates find themselves pursued by colleges and universities across the country and around the world. At Lausanne, we always strive to be better tomorrow than we are today. With thoughtful and intentional planning, improvements are made to the campus every year. Community Response to Covid-19
Knowing that a Lausanne education is best experienced through in-person relationships, we have been happy to have faculty and students on campus for the 2020–2021 and 2021–2022 school years. Our task force made up of infectious disease experts, doctors and members of our administrative team continually works to minimize risks and keep students safe. We are happy to offer on-campus and virtual tours and look forward to helping you gain a better understanding of the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. Our admission team will guide you throughout the buildings and the division head of your child’s age group will be on hand to answer specific gradelevel and experience questions. All campus guests are asked to adhere to Lausanne’s Covid-19 policies and procedures during their visits.
•V irtual Early Explorer Experiences – The first Wednesday of each month (October–May) at 8:30 a.m. Zoom in with your toddler to the Lausanne library for story time and a co-curricular activity offered by one of Lausanne’s art, dance, music, or P.E. teachers. Families who have inquired or applied to Lausanne will receive an email link to monthly Zoom activities as well as the opportunity to register for on-campus playdates on our new Early Childhood Playground. •P ersonalized Tours (On-Campus and Virtual Available) – Your family will have the opportunity to schedule a guided tour the classrooms and campus. As you observe students and teachers in the classrooms, you’ll see the IB Learner Profile skills and attributes developed by our PK2 through 12th graders and enhanced by our global community of learners. Upcoming tours and registration opportunities are available at lausanneschool.com/planavisit. You may also arrange a tour by contacting the Lausanne Admission Office. •S tudent Visits – Families exploring PK2–Grade 8 are welcome to bring their children on their scheduled tours or to introduce their children to Lausanne during the admission assessment/interview visits. Applicants to PK2–Grade 8 will have the opportunity to visit campus as part of their admission process. We are offering half-day customized student visits for students exploring Grades 9, 10 and 11. While these Upper School prospective students will experience a campus tour during their student visit day, they are additionally invited and encouraged to attend tours with their parents.
