Rehabilitation center for children with special need SUZHOU CHILDRENS HOSPITAL Introduction The firm is located in china .Its philosophy is to design buildings of distinction that reflect the unique characteristics of both the location and the users of the building. The existing Suzhou Children’s hospital is located in a building that is 80 years old with little improvement since its original construction. This new replacement hospital has been designed with all the latest concepts in paediatric healthcare delivery.
Thought Behind Design The design puts at ease the stress and fears of patients and their parents. Spaces are designed with the emotional and physical needs of this unique population. Infusion of natural light, well-planned clinical areas and access to multiple outside areas offer relief from anxiety and stimulates patient health.
Special Feature The architecture of the hospital reinforces this tie to the fluidity of the water in the gardens and canals, and the fluidity of a kite soaring. The curves are visually appealing, like waves of water or currents of air. Bands of colour will be interspersed on the building’s façade to further designate the hospital as a place for children and their families.

Concept Behind Design
Kites have always delighted children for centuries. It is believed that kites originated in China over 2800 years ago. Their bright colours and shapes soaring through the sky bring wonder and joy to children of all ages. Suzhou Children's Hospital has its own very large kite that soars over the garden and play areas. This kite provides cover and protection from the sun and rain, adding colour and delight to the children and their families. The water garden at Suzhou Children's Hospital recalls a long tradition of the water gardens in Suzhou known for their beauty and tranquillity. The water features also provide a visual connection to the canals of Suzhou, the Venice of the East. The project abuts canals on the south and east side.
Bright colours and shapes used in design
SUZHOU CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL PLAN
Sr. No.
Patients will arrive on foot, by bus, by bicycle, and automobile across a bridge that spans a below grade healing garden specifically designed for children and their parents arriving in a spacious multilevel space that provides easy wayfinding and access into all areas of the hospital. The use of escalators will speed the patients to the clinical areas. Each floor of the facility will have patient registration, cashier and pharmacy thus reducing congestion and unnecessary traffic patterns. Patient care areas were designed so that all patient rooms face south, in a mixture of single and 4 bed wards. The south facing rooms provide for the best balance of the healing benefits of the sun. The inclusion of a separate infectious disease building, VIP patient areas, and staff housing all lend opportunities for integrated design solutions in a child friendly environment. Staff will have access to garden areas set aside for their use alone.

Conclusion of design
FACULTIES AND ADMINISTRATION
• Functional and physical attributes of the design are related to the emotional and physical needs of this unique population. • Designed keeping in mind the natural environmental conditions to achieve the maximum inside/outside comfort for the building users. • Huge openings on the building facade makes the space interlinked with the nature, it also enlightens the space and improves air circulation. • Design includes different blocks connected with service road & wide corridors. • Universal access provided through ramps, stairs and lift. • Slit windows are provided to illuminate the long corridors which creates the shafts and spots of light. • Infusion of natural light, well planned clinical areas and access to multiple outside areas. • Big central courtyard & pocket courtyards connecting all the spaces which allows casual sitting and gathering space. It provides a safe and secure environment. • Use of latest technologies and therapies. • National level of rehabilitation services are provided. • Transportation facilities are also very well designed . • Vehicular and pedestrian movement are segregated for safety and occupants. • The location of campus is near to village the basic facilities such as police station, railway station, post office, etc are nearer to the main campus. • More space provide for activities compared with normal children and also for barrier free spaces.

SITE ANLYSIS
TREE IDENTIFICATION
Introduction After completing the program analysis, the approximate area needed for the site is found, in this specific criteria
RAJODA SITE
needed for the site will be listed in order to find the most suitable site for the project to be built. Choosing an appropriate site is crucial because it can assure the success of the project. •As the project is in Gujarat, the perfect location for the site will be in Ahmedabad because of its connectivity with the entire state of Gujarat either through rail or road transport.

Golden shower tree
Neem Tree
•Children from all over the state can easily participate in the activities of the center. •Ahmedabad being a metro city of Gujarat, it has better transport facilities such as city bus, B.R.T.S., auto rickshaw/taxi, and metro (within near future) which connects well with Railway Station, S.T. Bus station and air port. •An easy availability of the different consultants, equipments, labs and other related facilities. •Also Ahmedabad has better connectivity with the other parts of the country through rail, road and air transport.
Site selection criteria
Gooseberry Tree
Banyan tree
Bamboo Tree
•Less populated/peaceful zone •Nature surrounded •Humanizing environment •Easily accessible through rail routes and roads •Easily availability of transport vehicles such as, BRTS , ST buses , rickshaws, etc

Rehabilitation center for children with special need Concept From the case study above it was found that , children with special-different ability require special care and attention for their education and training. Also it was observed that they require equivalent amount of area for their outdoor activity. These out door activities must be under safe and secure environment. Therefore hierarchy of courtyard could be the best solution for designing this project.
