TRADE TREASURES I hold fashion swaps for my friends. I ask each of them to bring at least 10 items they no longer wear, from clothes and shoes to jewelry. Everyone gets one ticket per item, which she can then swap for something she wants. We have so much fun!

GET CRAFTY My friends and I host craft nights at our homes on a rotating basis. (If we can’t get sitters, we set up the kids with some projects.) We’ve made scrapbook pages, holiday decorations, wreaths, and more.

SWITCH THINGS UP Our group of friends gathers the third Friday of every month for a fun outing, such as a trip to a bowling alley, museum, or restaurant. Technically, we’re a book club. Reading the book is always optional; laughing a lot is required.

COOK CREATIVELY We have themed dinner parties with a group of other couples. Each pair brings a beverage, plus a dish that’s tied to that night’s theme. Some of my past favorites include “memorable childhood dinners,” “warm foods for winter,” and “takeout” (that night, we had a lot of homemade pizza).

GRAB A BRUSH My mom friends and I always have a great night out at Paint Parties! These are typically held at a restaurant where, for a small fee, an artist provides the supplies and takes the group through a step-by-step tutorial. You usually get to enjoy drink and appetizer specials, and everyone takes home a one-of-a-kind artwork.
