SURE THINGS In search of a perfume as confident as she is, Kayleen Schaefer meets her match in fall’s brave new scents.
I am proud to say that, as I’ve finished up my 20s and plunked into my 30s, I’ve pulled off my share of bold acts. I’ve landed jobs, asserted myself in relationships, even run a half marathon. I’m no longer at the starting line of my life, striving to morph into my best self. Instead, these accomplishments have tilted me toward being more certain of who I am: a confident, athletic, sometimes complicated woman (who, admittedly, still texts her mom when she finishes a killer run). Even so, as I’ve evolved I’ve continued to spritz on the same easy-to-wear, powdery scents—the kind of polite fragrances that are more about blending in and being no bother at all.
