Electrical contractors have responded well to the roll out of Schneider Electric and Clipsal’s new EcoXpert certification programme.

The global training and endorsement program has been developed to assist electrical contractors in diversifying and growing their business.

EcoXpert is designed to give medium sized electrical contractors the necessary skills to become certified energy experts so they can develop new services and meet the changing energy needs of their customer base. The program helps contractors advise, sell and install a broad range of pre-engineered energy solutions across small to medium sized commercial, industrial and high-end residential applications.

EcoXpert training is tailored specifically to each contractors’ needs and individual training requirements. This allows them to capitalise on opportunities specific to their business and customer’s needs.

Since the roll out, over 200 contractor customers have attended the national launches held throughout October & November and expressed interest in learning more about the training involved.

“There needs to be a change in the general business of electrical contractors to position themselves as energy advisors though programmes such as EcoXpert,” said Simon.

“Our aim with this program is to create partnerships in the truest sense of the word.

Our emphasis is on quality training that offers solutions and support. The areas we are covering include HVAC, solar, lighting control, monitoring and motor control.”

Simon explained how EcoXpert will provide a combination of practical and web-based training, complete with online tools to assist contractors; even in relation to the administrative side of their business. “We’ll help you with marketing, van signage, flyers, and to create opportunities, even websites to help you deliver a consistent message to market”, he said.

Speaking at the Adelaide launch of EcoXpert, Dave Gardiner, Vice President Clipsal and Schneider Electric Partner Business urged contractors to look at the opportunities presented by the programme. “The biggest investment is your time. The value proposition is to be able talk to your customers differently, walk through their premises and determine ways in which they can save”.

“Ultimately, customers increasingly require a qualified and reliable service and Schneider Electric’s aim is to ensure that EcoXpert qualified contractors are the first point of call. The solutions offered via EcoXpert will enable contractors to offer these services and solutions that reduce their customers’ energy use and save them money”, concludes Dave.
