MISSION Lawrence Memorial Hospital Endowment Association provides the opportunity to share in the mission of the hospital through philanthropy. It secures financial support for hospital endeavors, charitable care, and community health education.
VISION The vision of Lawrence Memorial Hospital Endowment Association is to grow the endowment through the engagement of individuals in support of health and wellness.
Dear Friends of LMH, I’m sure I share the feelings of every president of Lawrence Memorial Hospital Endowment Association. I thought I knew a lot about LMH and the Endowment Association when I joined the board. Did I get a surprise and find I had a lot to learn! I know now why LMH has become such a treasured part of our community and is recognized nationally as a best-in-class community hospital. 2016 has been a year of significant change for LMH and the Endowment. We said goodbye to longtime CEO Gene Meyer. Gene was an inspiring leader who built a great team and dramatically improved all aspects of our hospital. We wish Gene and Carol a grand retirement — and wish Gene lower golf scores. Our search team did a great job and we were able to make a smooth transition to new CEO Russ Johnson. We’re very fortunate to have Russ leading our team. He’s a talented health care professional and has hit the ground running to continue to move LMH forward. We also said goodbye to our longtime Endowment leader, Kathy Clausing-Willis. In the 18 years Kathy served as our leader she and the talented team she built, along with the volunteers she inspired, grew our endowment from approximately $2 million to $12 million. Kathy was a tireless advocate for LMH and we’ll never forget her total dedication and contribution. The search for a new Endowment leader is well under way. Our Endowment team is carrying on their vital work with professionalism and enthusiasm. Other smaller changes occurred in 2016, but many themes remained constant. The changing health care world will continue to demand growth and innovation at LMH, and that assuredly will require additional funding. Since its inception, Endowment has transferred nearly $30 million to LMH to meet funding needs, and those needs will only grow. The list of improvements to LMH funded by Endowment is too lengthy to list. We are so fortunate to have in place an outstanding medical and support staff, modern and expanding facilities and equipment, a highly focused and effective Endowment staff, and a host of volunteers who are the envy of every organization in Lawrence. Just a personal note: The year I was honored to join the Endowment board was the first year LMH was named among the 100 Top Hospitals in the nation and has made that list ever since. Some might say coincidence. … They would, of course, be absolutely right! Because I’ve been given the honor of serving as your president again in 2017, I can let you in on a secret: I have the best seat in the house to watch all that each of you does to create a successful hospital and successful Endowment.
