Notice to Lax Kw'alaams members: As of September 8th, Woodside commenced investigative work at Grassy Point associated with its Sole Proponent Agreement with the BC Government. The work includes marine, archaeological and geophysical surveys and soil and rock sampling to assess the feasibility of constructing an LNG facility on the site. Activities are expected to continue to mid October 2014. Last week Mayor and Council heard from Woodside who gave a presentation on their company profile and the proposed project, which includes the construction and operation of an LNG export facility and marine terminal. Woodside is in the earliest stages of the environmental review process. The meeting with Council was for information purposes and no decisions about the project have been made. During the investigative work, community members can expect to see additional people, boats and helicopters moving to and from Grassy Point. Information on the proposed Grassy Point LNG Facility is available on Woodside’s website at http://www.woodside.com.au/Our-Business/GrassyPoint/Pages/default.aspx and on the BC Environmental Office project page at http://a100.gov.bc.ca/appsdata/epic/html/deploy/epic_project_home_422.html
