Dustan Blom just before and after his death

Three years ago, Dustan Blom married Talita. At the time, she was pregnant with twins, in March Talita’s uncle Gert died and it was while the family were on their way to Gert’s funeral that they found out there were complications with Talita’s pregnancy and she had to be rushed to the Sandton MediClinic. Five hours after giving birth to her son and daughter, Jarred and Megan, she died from an amniotic embolism, an obstetric condition that collapses the heart and lungs. The premature infants survived, leaving Dustan a widower and a single father, he battled with his grief that Dustan’s sister Julie flew from her home in England to comfort him. Their mother had died

about two years earlier from a brain tumour. The diagnosis had come just seven weeks before her death. “He was devastated. He was in a world of pain. The woman who had been ‘the one’ had slipped away,” said Julie. Julie said Dustan’s twin children were healthy and in the care of Talita’s family. Julie told The Star that Dustan’s life had taken a sad turn earlier this year. The 36-year-old Dustan was last seen on September 17 at the Dros in Olivedale, leaving the restaurant with an unknown woman. He allegedly had offered to give her a lift home. According to a missing person report, the tracking device in his Nissan QashQai had been deactivated and his cellphone

found in the boot of his car in the parking lot at Montecasino in Fourways. Dustan had been murdered and dumped in his own car. Police arrested a 24-yearold woman named Maruschka Robinson over the murder. Robinson was also friends with Guil Yahav, an ex-bouncer who made headlines in 2002 for his role in a vicious murder Lollipop Lounge owner Gigi revealed that Robinson had worked as a stripper at her strip club, but had left four months ago “by her own choice”, and she hadn’t seen her since. She declined to comment further. The motive for the murder may have been robbery. The same week, a 32-year-old man was arrested on Thursday in connection with Blom’s

His co-accused are Kagisho Dichabe, Lesiba Gwangwa, Helen Moreroa and Makgetsi Manthata. They are out on bail of R40 000 each. The State alleges that The department paid the company R43m. According to the charge sheet, Malema

murder. During the first week of November two brothers, Louis and Heinrich Coetzee, Ian Manyika, a Zimbabwean, and Alex de Kooker, appeared in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court charged with two counts of fraud after they allegedly took money from Blom’s account. FNB has opened a separate case. According to state prosecutor Yusuf Baba, the card was in the hands of each of the accused between September 18 and 27 and revealed an extensive list of transactions. Investigators are still trying to determine if the four men are also linked to the killing. They are understood to be sifting through evidence to see if the four helped in Blom’s murder. Voting registrations ran smoothly

Preliminary reports estimate that approximately 1.1 million people visited voter registration stations on the first day of the Independent Electoral Commission’s registration drive on Saturday. IEC spokesperson Kate Bapela said their initial trends also show a high turnout of young people, with up to 75% of new registrations being people under the age of 30. MineArc opens its first SA-based manufacturing facility in Northriding Australian mining-refuge-chamber manu- facturer MineArc Systems has opened its first Africa-based facility in North Riding, Johannesburg, in a move that the High Commissioner for Australia, Graeme Wilson, believes demonstrates a show of confidence in the local mining industry by the Australian private sector. “Australia is a good partner to South Africa, as it is a global mining superpower that has invested heavily in the continent. The

opening of this facility is a great example of an Australia-based mining equipment, technology and services (Mets) company expanding its footprint into Africa,” he said at the facility’s launch last week. The official opening of the facility, MineArc’s third-largest global operation, came shortly before the company was due to deliver the first of 17 MineArc CoalSafe refuge chambers to

South Africa-based Anglo American Coal’s New Denmark colliery, in Mpumalanga. The refuge chambers at New Denmark would serve as an advanced safety feature of the mine, with each capable of safely housing up to 16 miners for up to 48 hours in the event of an underground emergency, such as a fire or toxic smoke or gas release.

Supa Quick Kyasand Serious about Convenience Frank Naicker, a franchisee of Supa Quick in the Kya Sand, is a man who runs his business with the community at heart. The father of two has a caring streak to his strict business persona His business venture began March 5th of this year and has been operating ever since helping motorist and residents with wheel alignment, balancing,

shocks and suspension services to mention a few. Supa Quick Kya Sand’s busiest time of the day is usually around lunchtime where they work on six to seven cars at a time. For convenience purposes, they have a capacity to service more cars at one go to avoid quees and waiting. Although his business seems all bloomy, challenges are inevitable.

“Ja, there are challenges involved in this business, we are quite very new around and trying to get the local residents to know about us has not been an easy task but it always works out somehow because of the quality of service we provide”, says Naiker “I am happy about the decision I made. There is easy access to the main road which attracts

potential customers and this is the only Supa Quick running in this area”, he added. Thulani Methula is the present-day manager at Supa Quick and according to Naicker he is running the business smoothly for everyone involved. In addition to the qualified staff members Supa Quick employs three

trainees named Isaac Ditaba Motlounge and Christopher Ratyaya who are from the Diepsloot area, and Kayleigh Jacobs who resides in Lanseria. “I am happy to learn more and gain experience”, said Isaac Ditaba Motloung one the trainees. This is Mr Naikers generous way of helping the community in the Northgate area and it is evident that those working for him are grateful and willing to work and learn from their positions as well as from the owner of the business. The six months operating business has future plans to expand in a nearby area and to leave Thulani to run

the current Supa Quick in Kya Sands which would be a great opportunity for Thulani to grow his managerial experience and for Frank to focus on his other businesses. There is a cool special available for motorists. If you live nearby of Supa Quick, their employees can drop you off at work and take your car for servicing while your car is being taken care of and come pick you up again when they have completed the task. Candice swanepoel, 25, South African supermodel, looked absolutely stunning donning the $10 million fantasy bejeweled bra at the 2013 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in New York. Aside from her unarguably striking looks she’s been named one of Forbes’ Top 10 earning models of the year. Candice Swanepoel has quickly made a name for herself among all the beautiful Victoria’s Secret models after being chosen to wear the coveted $10 million “Royal Fantasy Bra”. This year’s design, titled ‘The Royal’, is designed by Swiss-based jeweler, Mouawad. The Royal Bra is adorned with over 4,200 precious gems from around the world including 52-carat pear-shaped ruby hangs from the middle of the bra, diamonds, and yellow sapphires crafted with 18 karat gold. The matching knickers were made from frilly red lace and paired with a gold belt containing hundreds of gem stones. She was worried about putting on the precious two-piece and said, “I’ve never worn anything this pricey, and we have to put gloves on when we put it on. I’m kind of praying that everything goes well and I don’t fall, but once I’m on the runway, I get into this zone. I have this feeling of pride. It’s kind of a big ordeal. The bra comes with two bodyguards and we have to handle it with a lot of care!” She was joined on the catwalk by fellow ‘Angels’ Karlie Kloss, Joan Smalls, Alessandra Ambrosio and Doutzen Kroes. Following the glitzy lingerie extravaganza, the gorgeous model opted for an ultra revealing low-cut short dress by Alexandre Vauthier to the celebration at TAO Downtown in New York City on Wednesday, Nov. 13.

Four held suspected of fraud involving Blom From Page 2; cameras withdrawing money at an ATM in Strydom Park. Manyika admitted this in his own statement to the court, but said that Malan had called him and asked him to withdraw the money with the card. He claimed not to know that its owner was dead. Robinson and Malan were also caught using the card on two other occasions, before it ended up in the hands of the Coetzee brothers. On September 21, they used the card to withdraw tens of thousands of rand at OR Tambo International Airport. However, on September 22, the day in

which Blom’s body was discovered, the brothers were making huge withdrawals at Montecasino to use for gambling. They then met Manyika and another unknown male before making further withdrawals. The card was also used by De Kooker, who used it to book a room at Montecasino’s Palazzo Hotel and to rent a car. His room later revealed he was in possession of false ID documents that could be linked to other fraudulent activities. Overall, the group withdrew R119 000, despite trying to withdraw more than R285 000.

DIY Tips for emergencies 1. What to do in the case of a Burst Geysers/ Burst Pipes Know where your shut off valve is situated so you can switch off the water. The shut off valve is normally located in the street or near a kitchen gully. Once you have switched off your water, contacta proffesional plumber where they can be able to give you telephonic assistance and arrange a call out to assist you. 2. Inaccessible Shut off Valves These often pose a problem as to where they are situated in a home. For many homes this is often outside the house in the road. We recommend that you have it moved inside your property and nearer to the house. This will help in a panic situation. 3. Avoiding Blocked Drains Avoid planting new trees near your drain line. Trees are often a problem if planted near drains pipes as the moisture in the pipe attracts the roots which then infiltrate the pipes causing blockages. Flushing solid waste items such as

nappies, facial tissues, feminine products, cotton wool etc. down the toilet are a fast route to causing a blocked drain. We recommend keeping a waste bin in the bathroom to dispose of these items. Ensure that you can access branch connections so that you can get to and access the manhole. 4. How to Test for Hard Water The most common water treatment problem found in the home is that having high mineral content such as magnesium and chalky calcium. This condition is commonly known as hard water. Hard water, especially with high levels of calcium, can clog pipes with mineral build up left behind as the water flows through the pipes. You can do a fairly reliable unscientific test to see if you have a problematic level of hard water in your home by doing the following test with liquid dish washing soap. A list of other credit cards found throughout the police investigation have led investigators to believe the group may be responsible for other fraud cases across Gauteng. Joe Strauss, representing the Coetzees, said his clients had been ordered by their “employer” to use the credit card and make the withdrawals, and that the owner of the credit card, Blom, had given them permission to use it. Strauss also revealed the employer of the Coetzees and Manyika is still an outstanding suspect. While De Kooker abandoned his bail

application on Tuesday, the other three men denied being part of a syndicate in their written statements to the court. Louis Coetzee’s bail bid was denied because of a pending case in Germiston, but both Manyika and Hein Coetzee were granted bail of R10 000. However, their legal representatives said that neither could afford to pay such sums. It still remains unclear if the four suspects are linked to the murder itself, but they will be appearing in court alongside Robinson and Malan on January 16.

From Page 2; said his client would not flee and would stand trial. He said Ndlovu had not committed any crime after he was arrested for drug possession in 2007. Ndlovu paid a fine. Mokgopi asked that the court release Ndlovu on R2 000 bail. Will stand trial

Earlier, Mokgopi said Ndlovu will stand trial and answer to the charge he faces. "The accused will remain within the borders of the country and stand trial. He was born and bred here... he lives here." Mokgopi was responding to the closing arguments opposing his bail application. - SAPA

Louka witnessed Lolly’s murder - report Johannesburg - Strip club boss Lolly Jackson's alleged murderer George Louka has claimed that he witnessed the killing but denies that he is to blame, The Star reported In a recorded interview a man, whom the newspaper identified as Louka, claimed he had information that would help convict Jackson's real killer. He also claimed he had spoken to the investigating officer a number of times, offering to return to South Africa if he

was granted witness protection. Louka said the people behind the killing had stolen millions of rand from Jackson and Jackson became aggressive. This was what had sparked his murder. The Cyprus Supreme Court of Appeal ruled that Louka's life would be in danger if he was extradited to South Africa, as the authorities would be unable to protect him.
