STUDY ABROAD SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION APPLY EARLY! AFFORDING A SEMESTER ABROAD: • SLU academic tuition scholarships, federal loans and grants may apply to SLU-approved semester- and year-long study abroad programs (not summer). Athletic scholarships do not apply. • Tuition remission, tuition exchange and FACHEX only apply towards programs at SLU-Madrid.

• SLU scholarships do not apply toward non-SLU-approved programs, however other aid may apply.

• If you have any questions regarding your aid for a study abroad program, please contact student financial services at 314-977-2350 or sfs@slu.edu.

• Students who wish to study abroad for more than one semester (excluding Lyon and Oxford) must contact student financial services and submit an appeal to determine if their Saint Louis University academic scholarships, federal loans and grants may apply toward a second semester abroad.

The U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs sponsors the Gilman Scholarship Program. The bureau fosters mutual understanding between the people of the U.S. and the people of other countries to promote friendly, sympathetic and peaceful relations. The program aims to diversify the kind of students who study and intern abroad and the countries and regions where they go by supporting undergraduates who might otherwise not participate due to financial constraints.

Boren Awards provide scholarships for U.S. undergraduate students to study abroad in areas of the world that are critical to U.S. interests and underrepresented in study abroad programs. These areas include Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America and the Middle East.

The Madrid campus provides tuition scholarships to a select number of U.S. students who have been accepted to attend SLU-Madrid as study abroad students.

The Center for International Studies at Saint Louis University is the administrative hub for a new scholarship program generously funded by SLU Trustee Joseph Adorjan. The Adorjan Scholarship Program funds the exchange of students between Saint Louis University, SLU-Madrid and Pazmany Peter University in Budapest, Hungary. The scholarship covers travel and extra costs of attending one of the partner institutions and provides the additional support needed for students who might not normally be able to afford a study abroad experience.

Thanks to generous alumni-benefactors, the John Felice Rome Center offers various awards exclusively for students currently enrolled in accredited, baccalaureate-granting U.S. institutions who will be studying abroad at the center during a subsequent semester.

Loyola’s office for international programs offers $2,500 travel stipends to eligible students who plan to study abroad at the Vietnam Center.

The office of international affairs offers the Sogang Global Scholarship, which covers about 50 percent of the dormitory fee, to a few select exchange students.

The State Government of Baden-Württemberg has set up a scholarship foundation providing scholarships to undergraduate and postgraduate German and foreign exchange students.
