WHAT SLU STUDENTS AND ALUMNI ARE SAYING

“SLU’s women’s and gender studies program encouraged interdisciplinary thinking and INNOVATIVE RESEARCH METHODS, something I appreciate. It also allowed me to collaborate with faculty outside of my core discipline, which has enhanced my research and transformed my teaching. I find that my approach to course design and formulating research questions has greatly improved based on my experience in the program.” Candis Bond, Ph.D. Instructor for women’s and gender studies and English at Saint Louis University

“SLU’s women’s and gender studies classes helped me to understand the systems in which DISCRIMINATION AND OPPRESSION INTERACT and are mutually reinforcing. This has definitely helped me in my work with survivors of domestic violence.”

Capstone Project A capstone project and presentation based on either an internship or research developed through coursework is also required.

“It is rare for courses to CHALLENGE THE DAILY ASSUMPTIONS we make about the world and rarer still to do so while leaving us not with a sense of defeat but of greater possibility. Women and gender’s studies at SLU has done exactly that for me.” Michelle Bach M.D./Ph.D. student at Saint Louis University
