Bryson Perry - Head Varsity Coach
B
ryson Perry is entering his second season as head coach of the Lafayette Girls Soccer program. Prior to coming to Lafayette, Perry was the head boys junior varsity coach for Henry Clay High School from 2006-09 and an assistant coach for the girls junior varsity team from 2004-05. After leading the 2011 varsity team to its first winning season since 2004 and first district win since 2006, Perry was honored with the 2011 Region 14 Coach of the Year. A Mansfield, Texas, native, Perry has been around soccer all his life. Perry began his competitive soccer career playing for Blast Soccer Club in Arlington, Texas, and continued to play at Mansfield High School, Hill Junior College in Hillsboro, Texas, club soccer at Stephen F. Austin State University as an undergraduate student, and club soccer at University of Kentucky as a graduate student. Perry came to Lafayette in fall 2010 as a technology resource teacher from Henry Clay, where he taught mathematics. Bryson received a bachelor of science in mathematics from Stephen F. Austin State University and holds master’s degrees in mathematics and secondary education in mathematics from the University of Kentucky. Stacy Chase - Head Junior Varsity Coach, Assistant Varsity Coach
S
tacy Chase is in her third year with Lafayette girls junior varsity soccer. She started soccer with her dad as the coach on the mighty Cupcakes. She played select soccer for two years and switched over to coed. She went to SCAPA, starting as a vocal major in the fourth grade and changing to an art major in the ninth grade. She played for Lafayette High School all four years and graduated in 2003. After Lafayette, Stacy went on to graduate from the University of Kentucky with a bachelor of arts in art education, as well as a bachelor of arts in studio art, her focus in ceramics. Art has been a part of her life as much as soccer. Along with schooling, Stacy started coaching the junior varsity team for Sayre and continued for two years. While at college Stacy met her husband and has now been happily married for three years. Her daughter, Ava, celebrated her first birthday on March 8, 2012.

Emily Slusher - Varsity/Junior Varsity Assistant Coach
Alycia Ann Sullivan - Varsity/Junior Varsity Assistant Coach
mily Slusher is in just her second year coaching at Lafayette, but she is no stranger to the game of soccer. She started playing recreationally when she was four, and joined her first U-10 club team at the age of nine. Ever since she can remember she has had a soccer ball at her feet. She was born and raised in Lexington, where she played for LYSA’s first Girl’s Club League, Kentucky Kickers Soccer Club, and LFC Premier. She attended Lafayette from 1996 to 2000, playing varsity all four years. She honed her skills under the tutelage of Steve Fugman, who was once head coach of the Lafayette boy’s varsity, and Jeff Chaney, the University of Kentucky’s men’s assistant coach. To both of these people she owes all of her soccer knowledge. Slusher joined the Kentucky National Guard when she was 18, and served as a broadcast journalist for nine years. She is a graduate of the Defense Information School’s Broadcast Journalism Program, run by the Department of Defense. During her time in the Army, she received many honors in both leadership and journalism. While serving in Iraq in 200506 she played as much soccer with the locals as possible, ages ranging from elementary school to the elder side of adulthood.
lycia Ann Sullivan is in her second year of coaching at Lafayette. A Lexington native, she began goalkeeping when she joined her first LYSA team at the age of five. Continuing to play competitive year-round indoor and outdoor soccer, she started playing for Sayre School in 2004, where she started varsity for the Spartans as a goalie all four years of high school until graduating in 2008. Maintaining a focus in goalkeeping throughout her soccer career, Sullivan has trained individually with goalie specialty coaches, as well as attending clinics at Centre College and the Coastal Carolina Training System in Rome, Georgia. In addition to coaching for the Generals, playing recreational soccer in her spare time, and working at Coffee Times Coffee House, Alycia Ann is currently a social work major at the University of Kentucky, where she hopes to pursue a career in federal law enforcement upon graduation. Sullivan also holds a bachelor of fine arts degree in broadcast journalism from Columbia College Chicago. She currently manages at Coffee Times Coffee House in Lexington and does freelance video editing in her spare time. She has wanted to be a part of the Lafayette girls’ soccer coaching staff ever since she left the school, and is excited she finally has the chance to teach girls how to be the best team and individual players possible. It is her hope for the season that every player falls in love with soccer all over again.

afayette High School opened its doors for the first time in 1939 to replace Picadome High School. The school was named for the Marquis de Lafayette, the French general who gained fame in the Revolutionary War. The family of the Marquis de Lafayette granted the school permission to use their family coat of arms.
a shared vision for Lafayette High School The Lafayette High School community is committed to the shared vision of a climate and culture that promotes purposeful learning. A professional and enthusiastic staff challenges students to excel both academically and behaviorally. A positive learning environment in every classroom invites learning and participation by all students. Students engaged in meaningful learning tasks eagerly contribute to the overall atmosphere of high expectation and peer mentoring to achieve these high standards. The rigorous curriculum ensures that every student will leave Lafayette with the skills and knowledge to make the transition to the next level of their education or career. Students will demonstrate proficiency in the core content areas of mathematics, reading, writing and science so they can contribute to their community as responsible, productive life-long learners. A safe, focused environment in a well-maintained facility encourages academic excellence and instills a sense of pride in Lafayette High School. Positive attitudes of the student body, faculty and staff reinforce high expectations both academically and behaviorally. These attitudes rest on a foundation of mutual respect for all members of the Lafayette community. National institutions that recognize academic excellence acknowledge the high standards and expectations that Lafayette holds for itself. ACT and SAT scores that are considerably higher than state or national averages testify to the rigorous academic standards of Lafayette. The diverse extracurricular activities Lafayette offers consistently earn superior ratings at all levels. The learning environment of Lafayette High School is richly connected to the outside world as students extend their class room learning experiences into the community through internships, mentorship, job shadowing and post-secondary opportunity fairs. A school-community liaison integrates our school into the larger community by corporate sponsorships for learning activities and promotion of school programs and events. A network of community members, graduates, and parents supports and reinforces these connections. The rich and encouraging environment provides a common vision that will challenge our students to continue to stay in school and graduate in numbers exceeding the national average. As each new generation of students realizes this vision for themselves, the acceptable standard for excellence will continue to increase so that Lafayette is always working to make itself better with each new generation.
