August is ending this week. The months are rolling by so fast! Did you go to the fair? We went on Wednesday because I really wanted to see Walker Hayes while the kids enjoyed unlimited rides. I will admit that I jumped on the Walker Hayes bandwagon when Fancy Like hit the radio. I started really enjoying several of his songs. I was pleasantly surprised during the show to discover much more into the life of this famous singer. This man glowed when speaking about his kids or dedicating songs to his wife! He loves to talk about God and took at least 15 minutes to give his testimony to us during his recall of his days being an alcoholic. He even reached out to any non-believers in the audience to encourage them. I really enjoyed his show and music but even more than that I was thrilled to see that Walker is a family man who loves God and displays that wherever he goes! hope you have a great week and let us know if we can do anything to help you promote your business or Takeevent.

4. We Use Hand Signals to Help Each Other Out. Whether they're riding as a club or just tooling around town, there is an unspoken code of respect between motorcyclists. You can see this as they wave to each other, extending their hand low rather than high, or using specific signals to warn each other of speed traps, dead animals in the road, and other traffic issues.

Hello once again my brothers and sisters. Hope the weather is treating you right and you get to ride for miles and miles and miles. Keep those knees in breeze, sunny side up and rubber down. Hoping you enjoy this article and hoping it reaches folks who don’t have any understanding of who we are. Bikers who are they? This is a question asked a lot by folks who maybe have never met a biker, never ridden a bike. They tell us its unsafe to ride a motorcycle. Why do you ride, you could be killed? Well, its unsafe to swim in the ocean, go for a walk in the woods, drive your car and sometimes even unsafe to walk out your front door. You can’t live your life in fear. What makes a biker a real biker? Is their leather-clad style dashing, or the roads that make them so intimidating, or that seem to be the part of a cult of motorbike worshipers? These motorcyclists are the modern knights of the open roads. And their bond with their comrades is more significant than blood, and here is why they have honor among themselves. Whether you’re a motorcyclist from heart or a born daredevil, no Code in the world hasn’t been broken by you. There is an unspoken code that you follow all your life. Motorcyclists are fiercely loyal to each other. You know behind that rough and tough face a person lies who is sincerer than the neighbor to your next-door! We were leather to help protect our bodies, helmet to protect our heads, and boots to protect our feet. We have tattoos because we like them but not every biker has tattoos. We are always the first to help out in our communities. We will stand up for our country, kids, animals, and our veterans. We raise money to help those in need. Can you say that? Bikers Are Family! We are all about our families and friends and we will defend them at all cost. Bikers are very protective of their fellow bikers. Thus, each biker is like their brother and sister, so no one tries to mess up with them. They always stand for each other no matter what happens. That’s why you can see dedicated riders in the groups because bikers are not just a family; they are a pack. Respect All! It doesn’t matter if it’s a man, woman, child, animal, and respect should be given to everyone. If someone is clearly at fault, bikers, don’t tolerate rubbish from anyone. Bikers have enormous self-respect and know that respecting each other is integral to avoid unruly violence or trust issues. When others get rude, they maintain cool and back their words with actions. But at the same time respect is earned. Prestige Your Bike! There is a no-doubt. If you’re a biker, then your bike is your soul. As a motorcyclist Honoring your bike is necessary because your life depends on it. Taking care of your motorcycle and maintaining it is the utmost essentiality. Most bikers would like to explain, “Motorcycles are like our spouses; you don’t get to touch it, only look from afar!” Never give up! Bikers don’t give up easily on these two things. 1. Once their mind is set and 2. nothing in the world can stop them from getting it done. That’s a bikers’ way; love in other aspects of life matters, just like their passion for their loved beast. The bikers’ topmost quality is that everyone envies, as they know what they want in life, and they will go to any limits to fulfill it. No rider left behind! This shows the sign of Friendship between bikers. Come hell or high water, and the biker always sticks to the people who ride along with them. When anyone down at the side of the road, you wait for them. It’s one of the only times bikers hit the brakes. Be Loyal to Your Own! A real biker is happy with whom they are, always. However, life is or how many actions they take, which might open to question (like those wheelies), everything defines them. Right from the way they talk or the way they dress, there’s an undoubted charm to every biker that makes them so alluring and a little freaky. Thus, there’s nothing that will make them change. Keep Your Thoughts Constant! Stick to your principles and words. If you have made a promise to someone, that promise is etched in time. If you think what you said is right, then don’t turn back your words. A biker stands his ground and trusts his/her instincts more than others. Ride with pride! Biking is not a game or hobby—it is art, which can be understood only by passionate people. No matter the cause or occasion, bikers ride. When they are sad or in doubt, they take a ride. But they never get tired of riding. Their soul is their motorcycle, and wherever they go, the bike goes too.

5. Riding Makes Us Better at Driving Cars. If you want to get home in one piece when riding a bike, you'll have to be constantly vigilant. Always scanning the road for any dangers, reading the surrounding traffic, positioning yourself to see and be seen... there's a lot going on at all times.

8. Bikers Do a Lot of Charity Work. There are countless biker charities out there. Everything from getting war veterans back on their feet, raising awareness for issues and diseases, to help fight bullying and making children's lives safer. And there's a perfectly good reason for this. While many people see bikers as big scary people covered in tattoos and leathers, they are actually normal people with families of their own. And just like normal people, they have been in the military, they've experienced illness, and they want people to feel safe. Next time you see hundreds of bikes riding in a convoy, it's more likely that they're on a charity ride rather than a bunch of hooligans out to cause havoc.

2. Don't Ever Touch Another Man's or Woman’s Bike. You'd think this one would be kind of obvious, but no. I've seen random members of the public grab the handlebars on a stranger's bike, even throwing their leg over it and taking a seat. Even worse are those who place their kid on a bike without asking. What's going through these people's minds? There's the risk of damaging the paint, the alarm could go off, or they could even drop the bike - causing damage worth thousands. And they would most likely be long gone by the time the owner gets back. There's an unwritten rule amongst motorcyclistsyou don't ask to try someone's bike, ever! If someone offers you to try it, then it's ok, otherwise, stay off.

3. We Wave to Strangers. Have you ever seen motorcyclists greeting each other with a wave or a nod in traffic? It's not because they know each other, it's basically just to show some solidarity with other bikers. There are different ways of doing the "biker wave", none of them involve enthusiastic waving like a dork. The most common way is to just put your arm slightly out and point at the oncoming bike with two fingers. In countries where they drive on the right side of the road, a nod is more commonly used, and in some southern European countries they stick out a leg to say hello.

7. We Practically Have Our Own Language. Spend some time around a group of bikers, and you're bound to hear some biker slang, and it's not given that the average cager will understand what it all means. You might know that an old' lady is a wife or long-term girlfriend, but if she's just an acquaintance or friend riding pillion on the bike, the term back warmer or backpack is used. OMG does not mean 'Oh My God,' 'ape hangers' are not found in a zoo, 'church' is not where you go on Sundays, 'squids' are not found in the ocean, and 'weekend warriors' are not true bikers.

Facts: 1. Respect Is Key. For any outsider stumbling into one of the many motorcycle forums or social media groups, the motorcycle scene can seem like a war zone at times. This might not seem very respectful, but there's a huge difference between what's going on online and what's going on in the real world. Don't let the beard, leathers, and skull rings fool you, bikers really are some of the nicest people you'll ever come across. Just realize that in order to get respect you'll also have to give it.

XO - Kathie

To say the last 3 weeks have been tough would be a gross understatement. It’s been, in fact, probably top 2 hardest times in my life. After being blessed with 17 beautiful, healthy, and love-filled years with my dogs, 1 of them has suddenly dipped over to that critical stage of life where things are going wrong and his little body is getting tired. And I have another one of the same age who isn’t far behind him. This process can’t be easy for anyone, but being the sole captain of this ship and trying to battle the storm alone has been nothing short of Foragonizing.thosewho don’t know, I have 3 dogs named Mousey, Skeletor and Sherman. Mousey and Skeletor (or Skelly) are Chihuahuas, Sherman is a Pomeranian and they’re all rescues, who actually rescued me. Mousey came along first, when I got my first apartment during my first year of college in 2005. I was volunteering at the animal shelter for college credits, when one day I came in and this tiny angel was sitting all alone in a big concrete cell, shivering and petrified. I called an ex boyfriend and asked him to loan me the $100 or so that it took to adopt him and took him home where his little presence fit perfect into my 400 sq ft apartment.

After about a year and a half, I realized he was pretty lonely between all the time I was spending at school full-time and working 2 part-time jobs during the day. I made the decision he needed a friend, and after a long time following Small Breed Rescue of East Tennessee on Facebook, one day in 2007 I found him. Skelly, or ‘Wizard’ as they had him named on the website, just jumped out of the page at me as soon as I saw him. He was around the same size, was the same age and with his silky white coat and big pink ears, I fell in love instantly. After a home inspection, some paper work and the adoption fee, his foster mom brought him home to me and they were the dynamic duo all the way up to 2015 when the Sherman monster crashed into our home and made our twosome a triple threat. Shermy is the best bad boy in all the land. He terrorized his way into all our hearts when he was 6 months old, with his adorable under-bite and a puppy mentality that now at the age of 7 seems to just be staying forever. For a stodgy old couple of almost 10 years, it was a breath of fresh air for Mousey and Skeletor, much to Mousey’s chagrin. With all that being said, the last 3 weeks have been an unexpected nightmare because quite frankly I always expected Mousey to be the first to go- since 2 years ago a vet issued him a 6-month death sentence- but instead Skelly has been the one to take a nosedive. I came home Saturday the 6th and he was unable to put his back right paw down. He didn’t seem to be in pain, so I waited til first thing Monday morning to take him to the vet. He has been healthy as a horse and refuses to use his doggy stairs, so I just assumed he jumped off the couch and maybe hurt his hip. Following an x-ray where they unintentionally discovered a large mass on his kidney and a misdiagnosis of sprain that turned out to be a torn ACL, his diagnosis is worst case scenario. I was given 2 options by a vet- attempt a risky surgery to repair the ACL, which at his age and the kidney disease he would never survive, or administer high powered pain medications daily to “keep him comfortable” which will slowly poison his little body and basically keep him sedated until his only working kidney fails and he dies. No thanks.

The Hardest Dog Days of Summer by Kathie Scalf

The level of callous and emotionless veterinary “care” I’ve received over the last 3 weeks has been a slap in the face. Beyond not being able to put weight on his back leg and becoming a snob about his dog food, Skeletor is otherwise still fine. He’s got an appetite, he’s alert, inquisitive, loving, skipping around on his 3 good legs and drinking water. This is not a dog who is ready to be put down, but that was the only option I was given. Basically “he’s 17 and not going to recover. Let’s just take him back behind the woodshed like Old Yeller and do the humane thing.” There was no offer for water therapy, no options for gentle exercises, or being told how to jazz up his dog food. When I told them he really enjoyed the boiled chicken and rice with carrots I was making him but was concerned he might be lacking crucial nutrients that dog food provided, they just said it didn’t matter what I fed him, served an outrageous bill for services rendered and prescriptions for codine and morphine. I’m choosing to go with my heart. I’m not providing him with “end of life care,” I’m going to give him EXTRA life care for as long as he has left. Extra yummy food, extra love and paying extra close attention to the signs he’s giving me. When he’s ready to pass through to the next phase of this journey, he will let me know. Until then, I’m feeding him steak, chicken, burgers and rice, potatoes, peas and if he seems uncomfortable, supplementing with small doses of pain medications. I am not knocking this dog out so he can just be in a medical coma until it’s time to go, as was prescribed. That seems like the most inhumane thing to do. No one prepared me for how hard this was going to be. I’m single with no children and no plans for any; these dogs truly are my kids. For half my life they’ve experienced everything with me, from moves, job changes, marriages, divorce, heartbreak, college Theycuddlebeenbirthdays…throughgraduations, itallthey’vetherewithawaggingtail, aandunconditionallove.trustmeimplicitlyandnow

I have to return all that love, trust and bravery and get them through this the best way I know how. It might be the hardest thing I’ll ever do. Love your pets extra today. We don’t deserve them.

"Uncharted" is a fun adventure film that allows you to relax, forget about turbulent world events, and have fun. Now on Netflix and available on Blu-ray, 4K and DVD. (Rated PG-13)

scene you must see that leads to a sequel, of which the chairman of Sony Pictures has revealed this as the first film in a new franchise.

UNCHARTED

Spidey. As for Wahlberg, he doesn't do anything we haven't seen him do before, with his squinting facial expressions and grumpy demeanor in which he excels. The actors' co-stars are all fine, with Gabrielle proving to be an excellent villain and worthy adversary, while Ali brings relief to the testosteronie driven duo. Director Ruben Fleischer ("Zombieland") keeps the action and intrigue moving at the proper pace. There is a post-credits

The film "Uncharted" opened in theaters earlier this year and for some reason fell under my radar. Thankfully, the film is now playing on Netflix so for those of us who missed the theatrical run can now see the film starring the current Spider-Man, Tim Holland, and Mark Wahlberg. The film is based on a video game franchise, so that explains why the action in the film is at times a bit over-the-top. The film opens by introducing us to orphan brothers Sam and Nathan "Nate" Drake (Holland), who have been caught trying to steal a map made after the Magellan expedition, which can lead to hidden gold. As a result of the attempted theft, Sam is thrown out of the orphanage where they reside, leaving Nate behind, but promises his younger brother he will come back to get him. The film then flashes fifteen years forward and we see Nate working as a bartender in New York City where he pickpockets wealthy customers. Nate's bar "activities" are witnessed by Victor "Sully" Sullivan (Wahlberg), a fortune hunter who has worked with Nate's brother Sam tracking treasure hidden during the aforementioned Magellan expedition. Sully explains to Nate that when he and Sam were stealing a diary containing information about the location of the hidden gold, Sam vanished. This revelation causes Nate to agree to help Sully find Sam. The two begin their adventure by attending an exclusive auction in order to get their hands on one of the golden crosses linked to the Magellan crew. While attending the auction they meet Santiago Moncada (Antonio Banderas), the last descendant of the Moncada family, who helped finance Magellan's expedition. The two also meet Jo Braddock (Tati Gabrielle), the leader of Moncada's mercenaries. After an unexpected fight at the auction, Sully manages to steal the cross, and the action kicks into high gear. Now in possession of the cross, Nate and Sully head to Barcelona, Spain, where the treasure is supposedly hidden, to meet up with Sully's contact Chloe Frazer (Sophia Ali), who has another cross. The trio then begin to follow clues in the diary Sully had procured with the missing Sam, and soon find themselves in the Santa Maria del Pi church, where Nate and Chloe almost meet their untimely end. Despite cheating death, Nate and Chloe find a map revealing the treasure is in the Philippines. Following the discovery, Nate, Sully and Chloe are headed to the Philippines, but due to an unexpected betrayal, are dealing with Braddock's team, who are also in pursuit of the hidden treasure. While in the Philippines, the trio and Braddock's crew, which includes vicious leader Jo, have exciting fights and an unreal attempted stealing of the newly discovered Magellan ships and the massive amounts of gold they contain. Along with video game style action, the film features betrayals, witty banter between the characters, shocking revelations, and Holland leaping about as if he is playing Spider-Man. Holland is his usual charming self, and proves he can branch out from playing

Sure, a vaguely alcoholic drink that looks opaque yellow sounds mighty temping after a long, hard day at work. Then you look at the ingredients and it’s a mix of brandy, half & half, chilled vodka, and half a can of Campbell’s cream of mushroom soup. It’ll settle you alright, but to where I can not dare to fathom. There must be a market I am missing out on here, maybe it’s time I looked into making my clickbaitstyle food page on Facebook?

Something that will get lots of shares, lots of likes, and is loaded to the gills with sodium. I better get to work on this right away. It’s been a while since I’ve explored the wonders of condensed soup anyways. See you next week.

You Won’t Believe This Recipe!?

202230,August|theloafer.net 23

I can picture it now. A post shared by some older relation that you don’t speak to because of political reasons. The post is from “True Classic Kitchens Now.” “Remember when you’d spend the weekends at your grandparent’s house and grandpa would come in from the farm work he spent all day doing and drink a classic ‘Campbell’s Settler?’ Well, we can’t wait to share that feeling with you again with our take on the classic drink.”

I wonder where the source of many of these recipes comes from? They have so many oldchurch cookbooks of the late 1980s terminology that I can’t help but wonder if many of these clicky, buzzy-sounding food pages just copy and paste out of yard sale finds. The 29th food post from “Real Food For Your Family” has a lot of recipes centered around cans of soup and dry ranch dressing mix. Again, I don’t think there is anything wrong with this, it just seems oddly out of trend for a lot of the modern food views that are so popular on, say, YouTube. I don’t recall the last time Claire Saffitz, queen of the kitchen, told me to crack open a can of soup during one of her videos. If we want to get terrified by a soup can cuisine, I’d like to see a post about the time that Campbell’s tried to convince people to make cocktails and chilled pre-dinner drinks with cans of soup.

By Andy Like@gmail.comtheloaferonlineprintRossatruemoron,oneofthe first things I do each morning is glance at Facebook. I’ll sit there with my coffee and give it a little going over. I sometimes wonder if this is good for my mental health. There’s maybe only 20% of the things I see that I care about while the other 80% is mostly blabber from people I haven’t spoken to since high school. Right now it’s a glut of posts about going back to school. Yet, mixed in with all the usual nonsense I’ve noticed that more and more people tend to share recipes these days. You’ve no doubt seen one of these posts. It’s just a photo of the finished food with either a link or a write-up of the recipe. They all have some sort of chatter attached to them like “Ah! This is one of the true classic soups!” Sometimes they go for a more homespun approach with “Grandpa used to make these for us every Sunday and I’ve not seen them since.” I doubt that many of these recipes that make such claims are authentic “Pee Paw” material.

Why? As 90% of them are just things on slider buns. I don’t know exactly when the humble slider overtook American kitchens as a trend, but I know it was only in the last decade or so. You click the link or follow the recipe and it’s just a sloppy Joe, on a slider bun! Shredded chicken cooked in French onion soup mix, on a slider bun! I’m not knocking these things, mind you. It’s just that after a while the proliferation of slider bun-centric recipes on Facebook all start to look the same and it confuses me. I want to see this trend be carried to the extreme of the foodie scale. Let’s see them work Molecular Gastronomy into the mix. I want to see clickbait-type posts for “brie cheese foam the way grandma used to make it!”
