A new school year! We are so happy to have students roaming the halls of Lancaster Catholic in less than 7 days! On Monday, August 26th, we have the honor of welcoming the Class of 2023 and new students into the Crusader family. New Student and Freshman Orientation is a required school day for all new Crusaders. The official 1st day of school will be Tuesday, August 27th! We can’t wait to see all of the students after the summer break and will have the opportunity to join together and celebrate our 1st Mass of the 2019-20 school year. On Wednesday, August 28th our Campus Ministry team will lead a Camp Min Theme and Retreat Assembly where they plan on announcing what’s new with Campus Ministry, how to sign up for retreats and document service hours. Mark your calendars and practice your smiles! Friday, August 30 is Picture Day!

Enrollment & Referral Summer Special! This summer we are looking to expand our Lancaster Catholic family! Here is how you can help! Current families can earn a reduction in tuition by referring a family to Lancaster Catholic. The first 5 families will receive a $1,000 credit. We are looking for more families like yours! Need some talking points to help persuade your friends into considering Catholic High? • There are only 9 open spots left in the Freshman class! • If you are a 10th-12th grader and you transfer into Catholic High, you will receive a $3,000 Grant over a two-year period. • Summer Special! We are offering a $500 Tuition Savings on top of any grants or financial aid you may receive until August 31. (Available for any grade level.) • Financial Aid is still available for the 2019-20 school year! If you have any questions, contact Kyla Hockley at 717-509-0315 or khockley@lchsyes.org.

Uniform Updates Lancaster Catholic is happy to announce two new uniform items that are coming to Catholic High! LCHS bow-ties will be available for purchase this year. Ties will sell for $17.60 each and should be available on the Lancaster Catholic website mid to late October. A-line skirts will also be making their debut at LCHS. Lancaster Catholic was promised these skirts would be available for purchase at the start of this school year. We have now been advised by Lands End that they will not be available until February. A-line skirts are longer and should be easier for taller girls to fit properly. There is also more material so it can be hemmed. Lands End has also informed LCHS that for any young lady who would need custom fitting if the box pleat is not meeting our dress code standard, Lands End will provide the custom fitting for FREE.

New Body Balance Uniform Requirements ATTENTION ALL BODY BALANCE STUDENTS: There is a new PE uniform requirement policy in effect for the 19-20 school year for all students enrolled in Body Balance Physical Education classes. Students will be required to purchase a body balance uniform (tank top & leggings) or the standard PE uniform (t-shirt & shorts) for class attire. No other fitness clothing will be allowed. Students may purchase the new body balance clothing through the online link below. The store is now open and closes on August 15th in order to have the uniforms right after Labor Day. http://sppartners.tuosystems.com/stores/lchsbodybalanceclass2019

Locker Decoration Policy Significant clean-up and repairs had to be made to many of our student lockers at the end of last school year. Many had to be re-painted because of writing done in permanent marker, and many had to be thoroughly scrubbed due to tape and stickers leaving a very unpleasant residue that had to be removed. Moving into the new school year we are reminding students of the LCHS locker rules that we expect to be followed. Students may NOT write on any part of the locker or put tape or stickers on a locker. If students would like to decorate their locker, they may use “white boards” or “dry erase boards” for writing. The only tape that should be used is painters tape, which easily comes off, or students may use “Command” mounting strips or hooks, which do not damage surfaces. Magnets can also be used. Please remember that lockers are the property of Lancaster Catholic High School. Disciplinary consequences will be enforced for students who abuse or damage a locker. Lancaster Catholic is not responsible for anything lost or stolen from a locker, and we strongly encourage students to use a school lock at all times. If your student has any issues with their locker upon the start of the school year (broken door or shelf, writing that you cannot remove that may have been missed in clean-up, etc.) please have them report it at the main office. Thank you!

2019-20 Student Handbook The 2019-20 Student Handbook can be found online (www.lchsyes.org) on both of the Student and Parent tabs or by clicking here.

LCHS Parking Lot Expectations

In an effort to encourage safe driving in our parking lot, we ask that students AND parents adhere to the following safety rules at all times. PARENT DROP OFF/PICK-UP Parents may DROP OFF students in the morning in front of the glass doors leading into Berger Gym. We ask that you be aware of buses also dropping off, and of students walking in the parking lot. SPECIAL NOTE: Students dropped off after 8:00 AM, must be dropped off at the main entrance to sign in with the attendance office. Students picked up before the end of the school day must sign out and leave through the main entrance doors in the front of the building. PICK-UP AT END OF SCHOOL DAY Parents may pull up along the sidewalk in the parking lot only as far as the parking lot monitor, who is stationed at the speed bump near the cafeteria. Parents must remain behind the parking lot monitor to collect their child and MAY NOT wait in line with the buses in front of the glass doors. • Parents may also pull into an empty parking space and wait for their child. • Parents and Students, please pay close attention to the direction and flow of traffic. There are several one-way arrow signs indicating the proper direction. • Speed limit in the parking lot should not exceed ten (10) miles per hour.

Excessive Heat Protocol The main priority of Lancaster Catholic is the safety and well-being of our students. To that end,the following excessive heat protocol is in effect and will run as follows: When the heat index number is predicted to be 95 or above, Lancaster Catholic will follow an early dismissal schedule, with the school day ending at 12:01. The decision will be announced to students and parents before the end of the school day, prior to the early dismissal day. (i.e. If the decision is made to dismiss early on Tuesday because of heat, parents and students will be notified Monday afternoon). Lancaster Catholic athletic teams will continue to follow the PIAA rules for excessive heat, and will play or practice accordingly. Coaches (or club moderators for other extracurricular activities) will communicate any changes to the schedule in regards to heat. For any students who would still have practice or games on an early dismissal day, or who must wait for transportation, there will be an air-conditioned waiting area for student use until that time.
