Lancaster Catholic’s
Crusader Connection One of the most important obligations of Lancaster Catholic High School and all Christians is to bear witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Jesus gave us all this unequivocal instruction: “I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another.” (Jn 13: 34-35). The murder of George Floyd and the evil of racism are heinous crimes against this commandment and the community of Lancaster Catholic High School stands together in condemning these crimes in the strongest possible terms and confronting the evil of racism that continues to darken too many hearts. As stated by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops: “The killing of George Floyd was senseless and brutal, a sin that cries out to heaven for justice.” We join those across our nation in voicing our outrage at this murder, and the instances of injustice, brutality and racism people of color continue to suffer. We stand in solidarity with the Floyd family and pray for consolation and healing. We support efforts to confront injustice wherever and whenever it occurs as the obligation of every Christian. We affirm the right of all people to protest and demonstrate their justifiable anger using peaceful, non-violent means. We abhor the immorality of the violence of lawlessness and riots that add more victims, so often from the ranks of the marginalized. We acknowledge and appreciate the honorable—often heroic—service of the vast majority of Peace Officers and members of the law enforcement community. We continue our calls for change, most importantly and powerfully a change of heart for all who violate the essential dignity of any human being because of the color of their skin or their ethnicity—or any other reason. We will redouble our commitment to educating the minds and hearts of our community to live in fidelity to Jesus’s command, and to working within and outside our school to root out and confront the evils of racism and injustice.

School Counseling Corner Seniors!!!! You won’t want to miss this! The Lancaster Sunrise Rotary was in touch this week and they will continue to offer the Culliton Scholarships! These are $2,000 and three students will receive them. You must be a good student, accepted to college for fall, 2020 and demonstrate financial need. Please download the application from Naviance and send to Mrs. Grosh when complete no later than June 15, 2020. From there, the Rotary will select winners and they will be announced at graduation in July. Seniors who have taken college credits: Seniors who have taken dual enrollment courses from HACC or Millersville - you will need to order official transcripts from these schools and have them sent to your college if you wish to receive credit. Please do this as soon as possible. Report Cards Report Cards - final report cards have been sent via email. Please make sure you have received yours. They will also be available in your Rediker portfolio. Grade Point Averages If you look at your quarter GPA as only one slice of your cumulative GPA, it will probably make more sense. Right now, your quarter GPA is 1/4, 1/8, 1/12 or 1/16 of your cumulative GPA--depending on how many quarters you have been at LCHS (each year is 4 quarters). Your cumulative GPA would account for all 4, 8,12 or 16 quarters and might be slightly higher or lower than your quarter GPA depending on how you performed. Your class rank is also affected each quarter and cumulatively; for instance, a student may have performed so well in one quarter that they are number 1 in their class, however, their class rank overall may be number 12. Hopefully this explains our grade point average. For more information, please see the page 9 of the Course Catalog. Final Transcripts Final transcripts - we will send out final transcripts to colleges once they have been completed. Hopefully all will be sent by June 15, 2020. If you have changed your mind (since comepleting the senior survey) about which school you wish to attend, please contact Mrs. Grosh or Miss Grasa.
