Lancaster Catholic High School Crusader Connection March 4, 2021
Pulsera Project Beginning this week, Lancaster Catholic’s Spanish Honor Society started selling pulsera for $5 at lunches as part of the Pulsera Project. A pulsera is a bracelet that is handmade by artisans in Nicaragua and Guatemala. The Pulsera Project employs nearly 200 artists in these countries with well-paying Fair Trade Jobs, providing positive & uplifting work in countries with high unemployment and frequently tough working conditions. Each pulsera takes about an hour to make, comes tagged with the picture and signature of the artist, and is woven with the rich personal history of the person who made it. The sale will continue into next week. All proceeds go directly to the artists. This is the second year that the Spanish Honor Society has been selling pulsera bracelets as part of the Pulsera Project.
Main Office Hours On Friday, March 5th and Friday, March 19th the Main Office will be closing at 12:00 pm due to Teacher In-Services.

Gala Auction Baskets - We need your help! Dear Crusader Families, We are preparing for our 7 th Annual Purple & Gold Gala to be held the weekend of April 24th, 2021. The Gala is our premiere fundraising event with proceeds directly benefiting each and every student at LCHS. Money raised funds academics, athletics, Fine & Performing arts, Campus Ministry and tuition assistance for ALL students. As we continue to experience the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the current restrictions regarding large gatherings, we feel the need to, once again, hold our annual Purple & Gold Gala virtually. In recent years we have asked for your participation in creating themed Class Baskets for an online raffle which contributed to the Gala proceeds. In light of the difficulty we face securing auction items for the Gala this year, we are asking for 100% participation in creating themed Class Baskets to be used as auction items. Class basket items can be purchase directly from our Amazon Wishlist or a donation can be made directly to LCHS to the attention of 2021 Gala donation. Please include your name, your student’s name and grade, and the item or donation you have submitted. Please submit all donations by Wednesday, March 31, 2021. All participating Freshman & Sophomores will be entered to win a free 2020-2021 yearbook, and participating Juniors & Seniors will be entered to win a set of free Prom tickets. All participating parents will be entered to win one of our $150 Gala-To-Go Bags filled with exciting goodies to be delivered to you the week of the Gala. Please contact Lori Haney Wagner ‘83, LCHS Special Events Coordinator, at 717-509-0313 x134, or email lwagner@lchsyes.org with any questions.

Flower Sale Dear Parents and Guardians, Spring is in the air! We, at Lancaster Catholic High School, would like to give you the opportunity to celebrate the Easter season and help those in need at the same time. LCHS Varsity Club is very proud to have collected $1,350 from our Super Bowl Celebration for Veterans' Victory House in Lancaster. However, we did have to use funds from our treasury for the incentive prizes for the 5 winning participants. With this spring flower sale, we hope to add to our balance so we may continue to serve others in our local communities whenever the situation arises. In the link below there are descriptions and prices of the flowers available from Stauffers of Kissel Hill. You may choose from tulips, hyacinths, daffodils, and Easter lilies. Please fill in the name of your son/daughter and the other requested information and have him or her return this form with cash or check made payable to Lancaster Catholic High School to Mrs. Byers in room 205 or Mrs. Cicchetti in room 122. The sale begins on February 25th and ends on March 11th, our next Varsity Club meeting. Please consider using the plants to decorate your own home or giving as gifts to friends or family members. Anyone is welcomed to participate, and the order form will be posted on our LCHS website. The flowers will be available for pick up on March 25th from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the school cafeteria. We cannot be responsible for plants ordered and not picked up, so please mark the date on your calendar. We thank you, once again, for your abundant generosity. May God bless you and your family throughout this holy Lenten season. Sincerely, Rhonda Byers & Jacqueline Cicchetti Varsity Club Moderators Click here to order your Easter Flowers!
A COVID-19 Message from Leslie AikensLCHS COVID Response Coordinator Here are the answers to some questions you may have once you are fully vaccinated. Q: I am full vaccinated against COVID-19, do I still have to practice the safety precautions and standards? A: The COVID-19 vaccine is another tool in the toolkit for us to use in the protection from the COVID-19 virus. When people are fully vaccinated they should continue to wear masks, wash hands, use hand sanitizer, social distance and avoid small and large gatherings. Individuals will be much more protected and can have that comfort that they will have a lesser chance of contracting the COVID-19 virus and/or a less severe case if they do get the COVID-19 virus. Q: If exposed to the COVID-19 virus, can I still carry it and pass it on to others? A: The CDC tells us, it is unknown if getting a COVID-19 vaccine will prevent you from spreading the virus that causes COVID-19 to other people, even if you don’t get sick yourself. This is another reason to continue the safety practices listed above, because while you are fully vaccinated you still could possibly carry the virus to others and you remain asymptomatic. Q: If I am fully vaccinated and exposed to a person who has tested positive for COVID-19, do I need to quarantine? A: The Pennsylvania Department of Health states people who are vaccinated against COVID-19 do NOT need to quarantine after an exposure to another person with COVID- 19 if they meet ALL of the following criteria: • They are fully vaccinated (i.e., more than 2 weeks following receipt of the second dose in a 2-dose series, or more than 2 weeks following receipt of one dose of a single-does vaccine) • They are within 3 months following receipt of the last dose in the series; AND • They have remained asymptomatic since the current COVID-19 exposure Questions?
