A Face Lift for the Athletic Trophy Case Since 1912, the capstone project of a Boy Scout comes in the form of the Eagle Scout project. Jimmy Boyle ‘22 wanted his Eagle Scout project to benefit Lancaster Catholic High School’s Athletic Department. “An Eagle Scout project must be able to impact the community and show leadership,” said Boyle. “When I spoke with Mr. Hinnenkamp, he recommended that the trophy cases in the main lobby needed updating.” Covered in layers of dust and grim, Crusader championship trophies dating back to the 1970s needed dusted and cleaned, while their display shelving was redesigned. “My dad’s friend is a contractor,” said Boyle. “He was able to help us come up with a design for the trophies. The goal was to be able to fit as many trophies as we could onto the shelves.” The trophy case was able to be transformed with the help of other Lancaster Catholic students. “Over the summer, I was able to recruit a few of my friends to help me,” said Boyle. “ I was able to show them how to stain the new shelves and installing them.” With a little under two months and hundreds of hours of work into the project, the renovated trophy case can be viewed, highlighting all of Lancaster Catholic’s victories over the years. “I am very proud of what we were able to accomplish for the Athletic Department,” stated Boyle.

A Message from Lancaster Catholic High School COVID Response Coordinator: Leslie Aikens We have recently seen a rise in COVID-19 cases in Lancaster County, and our public health officials are concerned about the upcoming winter months, with increases anticipated in both the flu and COVID-19. The fear is that we will see cases rise due to people spending more time indoors, getting tired of the public health measures, traveling for the holidays and receiving mixed messages from national and local leaders. We need to stay vigilant with our public health practices, such as wearing masks, social distancing, and regular hand washing. Please avoid social gatherings in homes, and if you are sick, stay away from others to avoid spread. If you are planning to travel, please notify the school and check the travel advisory on the PA Department of Health website, for the most current directions. Please understand that the Diocese of Harrisburg expects its schools to treat these travel restriction recommendations as requirements. COVID-19 is not showing signs of going away, and with the winter months coming, we may see an increase in the number of cases. LCHS is working hard to keep our students and staff safe and healthy, and it takes all of us working together to make that happen.
Athletic Volunteers Needed Volunteer help is needed in all sports this fall. Needs vary as we work and adapt to the Covid-19 restrictions. As a reminder, each family participating in LCHS Athletics is required to volunteer a minimum of 10 hours each year. Click here to view volunteer opportunities.

Once & Always This week of Homecoming, is a special week for all Crusaders. Due to the pandemic, Lancaster Catholic has pivoted to a digital Spirit Week. As we enter into this virtual realm, it is vitally important to Catholic High and its current students for us to come together as a family. While this week is a wonderful flashback of memories and amazing times that we have all shared inside the halls of Catholic High, it is also a perfect chance to financially support our beloved alma mater to ensure current Crusaders have the same opportunities to create lasting friendships and memories, just like we all did. School Counseling Corner Senior Parents Be on the lookout for scams when it comes to scholarship opportunities and FAFSA completion websites. The only websites you should be accessing are: FAFSA.gov or PHEAA.org please don’t click on any websites related to financial aid with a .com address. Start your engines as the FAFSA financial process is almost ready to begin! Adoration Prayer Team At Lancaster Catholic, we consider prayer a priority and the Eucharist “the source and summit of the Christian life” (Lumen Gentium). In response to the call to prayer, Campus Ministry Department at Lancaster Catholic High School has designed a program to enhance the spiritual life of students, faculty, families, and alumni of our school. We have taken the challenge of raising the bar on prayer by hosting Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament each Friday in our school Chapel. This ministry has produced wonderful graces over the last five years. Our goals with this program are simple: • Students have a regular chance to pray, and spend time, before the Blessed Sacrament. • Parents, alumni, and friends of LCHS can directly join our effort each week to offer a prayer for our school and all the students, faculty, and staff. Our culture confronts all of us, but especially our young people, with challenges each day. By offering weekly prayer before our Lord in Blessed Sacrament we can spiritually assist all the members of our LCHS family. To maintain the security and safety of our students and faculty, each person will need to sign up in advance. As with all visitors to our building, adorers will need to be healthy and feeling well, have a mask and have a temperature check when they enter the building and before they go to the chapel. • It is our hope that we can have at least two people for each hour during the day. We are asking you to prayerfully consider this important ministry at LCHS. For all the details and to sign up for the Adoration Prayer Team please contact our volunteer coordinator Mrs. Christy Brislin at christybrislin@yahoo.com or our Campus Ministry office at 717.509.0315 ext 123 or via email at abamert@lchsyes.org.
