Caraline Young’s Trip to Israel Earlier this month, senior Caraline Young took a once in a lifetime journey to Israel. There she had the opportunity to experience the culture and visit many historical sites. Above is Caraline riding a camel in the Judean Desert on her way to the Dead Sea. Fun factthis photo was taken exactly at sea level, and afterwards, they were below sea level. To see more photos of Caraline’s trip to the Holy Lands, click here. Each picture has a caption with history or memorable details.

Senator-for-a-Day Six Crusaders had the opportunity to

escape the classroom and head to the Harrisburg to participate in the Senator-for-a-Day program, sponsored by Sen. Scott Martin, Class of ‘90. There they had the chance to sit in committee meetings and develop positions on legislation, debate issues and learn what it takes to get a law passed or defeated.

Host families are needed for several

Nacel Open Door international students who would like to attend LCHS for the upcoming school year 2019-20.

These F-1 Visa students speak English, have their own travel health insurance, and bring their own pocket money for personal expenses. Host families provide room and board and receive a generous, monthly hosting stipend. For more information please contact the local representative Linda Ferrara through email at LFerrara@team.nacelopendoor.org or call her cell phone 267-241-9512.

Easter Flower Fundraiser Dear Parents and Friends of LCHS, Spring is in the air! We, at Lancaster Catholic High School, would like to give you the opportunity to celebrate the Easter season and help those in need at the same time. The Varsity Club is selling spring flowers to raise money for items to be given to those starting out on their own after a temporary stay at the Transitional Living Center, home to Veterans’ Victory House on King Street in Lancaster. On the order form are descriptions and prices of the flowers available from Stauffers of Kissel Hill. You may choose from tulips, hyacinths, daffodils, and Easter lilies. Please fill out the form and return it to the school to our attention. The form can also be found on the Parents tab on Lancaster Catholic’s website. Lancaster Catholic High School School Counseling Corner So What Do Sophomores Do?

If you’re the parent of a sophomore, I’m sure you wonder what their next steps should be. The School Counselors are beginning to meet with their sophomore students to discuss just that. In addition to the Career Key in Naviance, we are encouraging all students to start exploring the different tabs in Naviance, particularly the resume. The resume can be edited throughout the high school years to include: leadership roles, academic and athletic achievements, community service, part time job experiences, etc. All this information is saved to a student’s account and can be updated every year or whenever a student achieves a new goal. After discussing classes, the School Counselors are providing handouts to their students. The flyer can be downloaded by clicking here.

Diocese of Harrisburg Men’s Conference The 8th Annual Diocesan Men’s Conference is being held April 6th at Bishop McDevitt High School, Harrisburg. Over the past several years, our Men’s Conference has been the largest annual diocesan event. It has been an excellent experiences for the many attendees. This has come through loud and clear by the yearly attendance, through the written evaluations, and anecdotally by word-of-mouth. The majority of our attendees are from parishes in the Diocese of Harrisburg, though last year and the year before, there were also attendees from all four eastern Pennsylvania dioceses/archdiocese, as well as from several western PA dioceses. While this is a Catholic Men’s Conference, non-Catholics are welcome to attend as well. We have quite a lineup. In fact, I think it is our best ever. It is definitely our largest and most wide-ranging group of speakers and workshops…42 different workshop topics in all. Registration Deadline – April 1, 2019. Cost is $35 per man. Click here to register and for more information about the event.
