IU SEE Seminar Dates to Remember

On Friday, November 2nd, juniors Amanda Mueller, Cassie Peris, Angeline Rann and Sunri Song attended an IU 13 sponsored seminar, “The Art of Nature: Journaling and Drawing to Capture Nature at Its Best.”

Friday, November 9th: Held at the Lancaster Environmental Center at FPA Concert & Lecture Series- the Lancaster County Park the students spent Jamanis Concert the day with Park Naturalist Lisa Sanchez. Carol Welsh presented “Four Color Analysis” and how it can deepen the journaling experience.

Through books and artwork, the students explored different ways that nature has been represented and then responded in their journals with nature and the way that they saw nature.

Blood Drive

On Tuesday, November 6th, 63 students and faculty/staff members tried to donate, 50 units of blood were collected and 150 lives saved!


The LCHS National Honor Society had a guest speaker on November 2nd.

Dr. Angela (Arnold) Sowers ‘94, spoke with NHS students regarding appropriate communication in college and the workplace, as well as her career as an Integrated Water Resource Management Specialist with the US Army Corps of Engineers. In her work, Angie works in civil project development where she plans ecosystem restoration, flood damage reduction, and navigation projects. She also works on various projects within the Chesapeake Bay watershed including island restoration, oyster restoration, and watershed planning. After graduating from Lancaster Catholic in 1994, Angie received her Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University in 1998. Angie also has an MSE in Environmental Engineering (2000) and a Ph.D. in Paleoecology (2003), both from Johns Hopkins. A group of about 80 students and educators representing 26 public, private and parochial high schools came together at Garden Spot High School to discuss the polarizing political issues facing their communities. It was part of the inaugural Democracy Day to promote civic engagement and civility leading up to the Nov. 6 election.


Last week, Spanish 5/6 gave food demonstrations, while Spanish 4 classes had Halloween themed presentations.

International Students took a retreat to New York City on Wednesday, while on Thursday, Freshman Physical Science and Intro to Science students heard a presentation about energy from the National Energy Foundation.

Varsity Club Christmas Greens Sale We, at Lancaster Catholic High School, would like to offer you the opportunity to get into the holiday spirit and help a neighbor at the same time. The Varsity Club is selling Christmas greens to raise money for families in need in our local community. With the funds collected from this activity, we can provide gifts, food, and clothing for several families who would not have the means to celebrate the holiday this year. All of the Christmas greens will be from Stauffers of Kissel Hill. Please fill out the form found on lchsyes.org and make checks payable to Lancaster Catholic High School. Order forms can be dropped off to Mrs. Byers in room 205 or Mrs. Cicchetti in room 122. Orders are due November 13th. We will not be able to accept any orders after November 13th. If you can not use the greens, donations to Varsity Club are always accepted. Greens will be available for pick up on Thursday, November 29th at 3 PM- 5 PM. School Counseling Corner: Timely Tips from your School Counselors Seniors - FAFSA Completion Night is scheduled for next Tuesday, November 13th from 5:30-7:00 PM in the Library. Please attend with your parents if you have questions about this very important financial component to college! Report Cards - are due to be released today for all students. Please note that if you have a student who has received incomplete grades “I” for any class, students must complete all their work before they are permitted to participate in school activities including sports and clubs. Students have 2 weeks to make up work when they are given an “I” for a class. We have had multiple students with injuries that may be ongoing; flexibility will be given to these students beyond the 2 week deadline to make up work. Distinguished Honor Roll- is awarded to students who have attained a 93% or greater overall average with no grade lower than 80% and Honor Roll is awarded to students with 90% or greater overall average with no grade lower than 80%. These averages are not rounded up!

On Sunday, December 9, 2018, we will depart Lancaster Catholic High School at 7 a.m. sharp!

We will be dropped off at the rear of the Winter Garden Theater which is a prime location to enjoy shopping, the theater district, the museums, and Time Square. NYC will be abuzz with Christmas decorations and good cheer.

Bus picks up at the same location at 7 p.m. for an approximate return to Lancaster Catholic High School at 10 p.m.

Parent Referral Program Our Referral Program is meant to thank families who have added new members to the Crusader family. For each new family that enrolls, the referring family will receive a $500 discount on tuition for the 20182019 school year, applied at the end of the 2nd marking period.
