2020 Super Bowl Celebration Throughout this and next week the Lancaster Catholic Varsity Club is embarking on its greatest event and fundraiser of the year, the Super Bowl Celebration. Students will have the opportunity to celebrate their love of sports at LCHS while raising money for a very worthy cause. For a $3.00 donation, students can purchase a ticket and guess the winning team and score of Super Bowl LIV. With a donation of $3.00+ comes a casual dress day for sporting their favorite teams’ colors and attire on Friday, January 31 and a chance to guess the winning team. $5.00 will earn them three guesses and a chance to win a technology prize worth over $200.00 plus a dress down day. The student from each class who has picked the winning team and the closest score will receive a team shirt of his or her choice. Tickets will be sold starting Friday, 1/24 through Thursday 1/30 at lunches. If students wait until Friday morning to purchase their tickets, the cost will be $5.00 for the dress down day and no guesses. All proceeds will go to Veterans’ Victory House, a transitional living facility in Lancaster for veterans and their families experiencing homelessness. Last year we proudly sent a check of $2,100 which helped defray the cost of food, laundry, counseling, transportation, security deposits, and other personal needs. Without our continued support, these men and women who have served our country so faithfully would go without some basic necessities of life which we take for granted. So please, participate in this fun event, whether you are football fanatics or not, wear your favorite colors and celebrate sports in America.

School Counseling Corner Why can’t I add an elective this semester? This is a question that has been raised often in the past 2 weeks. Unfortunately, when classes are selected during the previous spring, students make their choices which determine class size and the number of sections available. If we don’t have a minimum number of students request a class, that has bearing on whether we offer that class and electives are usually affected the most by this. Please note, the minimum number of credits a student is required to have is 6.5. Student transcripts reflect only the final grades from each completed course, not the number of study halls a student may have. If students have questions regarding their schedules, they may see their School Counselor.

Seniors who will attend a Catholic College next year... Make sure you check out the Ray Tyo St. Ferdinand Scholarship on Naviance under the Scholarship tab. This award is for $2,000 per year for 4 years!!

Just for Juniors Students who are juniors can expect to have their meetings scheduled with their counselors right after midterm exams. We are eager to explain what the next steps are with post high school planning and introducing students to Naviance capabilities and tools. Right now, juniors should be looking to register for their first standardized college entrance exam (SAT: collegeboard.org or ACT:actstudent.org).

Student Athletes! If you have registered with the NCAA, you also need to have your SAT or ACT scores sent directly to the NCAA. Please review your eligibility status as soon as possible at www.web3.ncaa.org/ecwr3/
