serve in Lambton County, promoting lifelong learning, access to cultural pursuits and more.
Beginning on page 11 you will find a list of events and programs at each library for the months of September and October. Programs are always being added. For the most up to date program and event information visit lclibrary.ca/calendar and follow up on Facebook and Twitter.
Libraries have always been a place where people and ideas meet; where discovery, experimenting, and learning happens in planned and unexpected ways.
October is Canadian Library Month and during this month, libraries and library partners across Canada raise awareness of the valuable role libraries play in Canadians’ lives. In Ontario, we celebrate our public libraries during Ontario Public Library Week (OPLW), from October 16 to 22, 2022.
Lambton County Library will be celebrating this year with a scavenger hunt beginning on October 1, ending with five main events on October 22. Join the scavenger hunt by downloading the Beanstack app and completing tasks that will help you learn more about what the library has to offer. Once you’ve completed the scavenger hunt, visit your local library for a prize. Your completed scavenger hunt will also enter you into a draw for a grand prize. The main events will take place on Saturday, October 22, at Sarnia, Corunna, Forest, Petrolia, and Brights Grove libraries. Join us for a day of food and fun activities. More details will available closer to the date, so follow us on social media or at lclibrary.ca to keep updated!

TEEN GAME NIGHT
Fridays - 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Ages 13 - 17
September 2, 16, October 7 – Call to Adventure: Make your fate! Inspired by character-driven fantasy storytelling, “Call to Adventure” challenges 1-4 players to create the hero with the greatest destiny by acquiring traits, facing challenges, and overcoming adversaries. This game features a unique “rune rolling” system for resolving challenges, a point-based system that encourages storytelling, and over 150 unique cards. Players begin each game with an origin card that provides their backstory as well as two “starter” abilities. Each round they may either acquire trait cards from the board or face a challenge. Beginners welcome.
September 23, October 14 – Forbidden Island: Forbidden Island is a visually stunning cooperative board game. Instead of winning by competing with other players like most games, everyone must work together to win the game. Players take turns moving their pawns around the ‘island’, which is built by arranging the many beautifully screen-printed tiles before play begins. As the game progresses, more and more island tiles sink, becoming unavailable, and the pace increases. Players use strategies to keep the island from sinking, while trying to collect treasures and items. As the water level rises, it gets more difficult- sacrifices must be made.
September 20 – Dixit: One player is the storyteller for the turn and looks at the images on the six cards in their hand. From one of these, they make up a sentence and say it out loud without showing the card to the other players. Each other player selects the card in their hands which best matches the sentence and gives the selected card to the storyteller, without showing it to the others. The storyteller shuffles their card with all the received cards. All pictures are shown face up and every player has to bet upon which picture was the storyteller’s. This game invites creative thinking and problem solving through visual story-telling.
