Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s Queensland headquarters, Brisbane. Role: Managing Contractor.

The GPT Group One One One Eagle Street, Brisbane. Role: Design and Construct Contractor.

Green Square Corporate Office Park, Brisbane. Role: Design and Construct Contractor.

Museum of Tropical Queensland, Townsville. Role: Design and Construct Contractor.

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s Queensland headquarters is a purpose-built building comprising multi-use production and output facilities incorporating smart design to service all current media platforms with the flexibility to accommodate new services in the future.

One One One Eagle Street in Brisbane’s ‘Golden Triangle’, designed and constructed by Leighton Contractors for The GPT Group, is simply unlike any other office tower.

Comprising two towers, North and South, around a central plaza, Green Square Corporate Office Park at the time was the largest mixed-use corporate office development in Brisbane.

At 199.7m tall, One One One Eagle Street comprises 57 levels including 44 typical office floors, two plant rooms, roof level and a six-level basement.

The South Tower was the first project in Queensland to achieve a 5 Star Green Star for Office Design v2 and a 5 Star Green Star – Office As-Built v2 certified rating from the Green Building Council of Australia.

The multi-award winning Museum of Tropical Queensland (Stage 2) in Townsville, built some 14 years ago, is a shining example of Leighton Contractors’ commitment to best practice design and construction outcomes.

The three-storey mixed-use building contains three retail outlets, multi-use recording studios and office space, complete with 55 basement carparks with a bicycle storage facility and an outdoor terrace on level 3 over looking Brisbane River.

Completed in June 2012, the office tower delivered more than 63,385m² of Property Council of Australia Premium Grade rated Net Lettable Area (NLA) to the local office market.

The North Tower was the first completed building in Queensland to receive a 6 Star Green Star rating for Office Design v2, and received a 6 Star Green Star for Office As-Built v2, making it the first building in Australia to achieve this outcome of world leadership.

The project posed a number of unique design challenges to the Leighton Contractors project team. These challenges included the need to construct an undercover car park within a tidal zone, and to design and construct the Museum’s roof structure to withstand cyclones and stormwater surges. Completed five months ahead of the original schedule, the Museums innovative design has stood the test of time having faced many adverse weather conditions, including the 2011 Tropical Cyclone Yasi.
