Despite these challenges the City is well placed to adapt and thrive, just as it has done for 1,000 years. This evening we are delighted to host leading figures from the City of London Corporation, including the Chairman of the Policy and Resources Committee, Chris Hayward, who will discuss the future of the City and the City Corporation’s plans as it continues to build on its economic recovery.

This dinner comes at a time of great national significance and change. The sad passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the nomination of Liz Truss as Prime Minister our fourth in six years, Russia’s war in Ukraine and the resulting cost of living crisis. These come as the City, and much of London, seeks to build on its recovery post pandemic.
We will also mark the tenure of Catherine McGuinness as the committee’s former Chair, who during her five years at the helm helped to steer the City through Brexit and the pandemic.
