The Role of the Children’s Commissioner for Wales …to be a champion for every child and young person who is under 18 years old, or 25 years old if they have been in care.

Rôl Comisiynydd Plant Cymru …bod yn bencampwr ar gyfer pob plentyn a pherson ifanc sydd o dan 18 mlwydd oed, neu 25 mlwydd oed os ydyn nhw wedi bod mewn gofal.


Safeguard and promote the rights and welfare of children and young people. All work is underpinned by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).

Diogelu a hyrwyddo hawliau a lles plant a phobl ifanc. Mae ei holl waith wedi’i seilio ar Gonfensiwn y Cenhedloedd Unedig ar Hawliau’r Plentyn (CCUHP).


The Commissioner MUST…

Mae’n RHAID i’r Comisiynydd…

• make sure children & young people know how to get in touch

• wneud yn siŵr bod plant a phobl ifanc yn gwybod sut i gysylltu â ni

• enable children & young people to contribute in developing work programmes

• alluogi plant a phobl ifanc i gyfrannu at ddatblygu rhaglenni gwaith

• meet up with children & young people wherever they are, especially ‘hard to reach’ children.

• gwrdd â phlant a phobl ifanc ble bynnag y mae nhw, yn enwedig plant sy’n ‘anodd eu cyrraedd’.


The Commissioner CAN…

GALL y Comisiynydd…

• review functions of the National Assembly for Wales & all devolved bodies

• adolygu swyddogaethau Cynulliad Cenedlaethol Cymru a’r holl gyrff datganoledig

• review arrangements for complaints, advocacy & whistleblowing • investigate individual cases • give advice, assistance, information and advocate. The Commissioner CANNOT… •review non‐devolved services e.g. Police, Youth Justice and Immigration

• adolygu’r trefniadau ar gyfer cwynion, eiriolaeth a datgelu camarfer • ymchwilio i achosion penodol • rhoi cyngor, cymorth, gwybodaeth ac eiriolwr NI ALL y Comisiynydd… •adolygu gwasanaethau sydd heb eu datganoli e.e. yr Heddlu, Cyfiawnder Ieuenctid a Mewnfudo.


CCUHP The UNCRC
