SUMMER ACTIVITIES - SPECIAL LEADER FOCUS

Visit Olympic National Park this summer After one of the wettest, stormiest winters on record, staff at Olympic National Park have been working to clean, prepare and repair park facilities for the spring and summer season. Here is a look at what to expect:

Getting crafty

Soren Randall (right) and Tayla Davis, both 7, create custom steampunk gear along with other children May 18 at the Port Townsend Public Library. Members of the Brass Screw Confederacy hosted the event ahead of the fifth-annual Port Townsend Steampunk Festival set for June 10-12. Children customized bowlers, top hats, ray guns and goggles, allowing them to become airship pirates and dapper industrialists any time they like. The public libraries in Port Hadlock and Port Townsend have a variety of programs to offer this summer. Photo by Nicholas Johnson
