INTRODUCTION
Today, LCIB has one of the most advanced facilities for the manufacturing of XLPE / PVC insulated Fire Resistant cables in the Asia-Pacific region. XLPE / PVC insulated Fire Resistant cables manufactured by LCIB are internationally renowned for its world-class quality standard. Fire Resistant cables manufactured by LCIB provide flexibility, resistance to high temperatures and resistance to combustion with low toxicity, low smoke and low acid gas generation. This catalog serves as a guide to LCIB’s manufacturing processes and standards in the production of Fire Resistant cables.
FIRE RESISTANT CABLES
In all fire disasters, fire smoke, heat and toxic fumes are the main obstacles to safe evacuation of a building or area. A major contribution towards overcoming these hazards is the use of fire resistant and non-halogenated cables. These cables provide the following characteristics :
High fire resistance
Long-term circuit integrity in a fire
Low smoke and toxic gas emissions
Flame retardant properties
Zero halogen gases
Ease and low cost of installation
Fire Resistant cables are used, where required by local fire codes, in the wiring of :

Public address and emergency voice communication systems in high-rise buildings
Control and instrumentation services in industrial, commercial and residential complexes
High-temperature installation conditions
INTERNATIONAL STANDARD COMPLIANCE The Fire Resistant cables manufactured by LCIB complied with either one or combination of the specification as below: - BS 6387 - IEC 60331 Fire Resistant Test - IEC 60332-3 Cat A, B, C Flame Propagation Test - IEC 61034 Smoke Emission Test - IEC 60754 Halogen Content Test The Fire Resistant cables are categorized by a letter symbol (e.g. A) or series of symbols (e.g. CWZ) according to the requirements for the resistance characteristics which they meet according to BS 6387. Construction Conductors Class 2 Plain annealed copper wire to BS 6360 Fire resistance barrier Mica tape Insulation Extruded cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) at 90째C *Bedding Extruded low smoke non halogen compound/PVC compound *Armour Galvanised steel wire armour for multi-core cable/Aluminium wire armour for single core cable spirally applied over the bedding. Outer sheath Extruded low smoke non halogen compound/ PVC compound * Not applicable for unarmoured power cable. Note: Sheathing material may be provided based on customer testing requirements.
