TRUSTED CHAMPIONS Resilient Mindset Intention: for you to have a number of adults who you really trust to share with when you have problems that are too big for you to handle on your own, when you feel unsafe or when you are uncertain and would like to bounce ideas off. These people are your personal champions. Draw a picture of or stick a photo in of each of your champions CHAMPION ONE The three words of trust: DARE, CARE, SHARE Choose to be strong.

Use your strengths to realise when you need support to seek help from your champions immediately.

CHAMPION THREE Use self-talk to practise saying what you will say to share with your champions.

Nothing will shock your champions, because they care for you. They will always listen.

Why did you choose each of these people? ...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... ......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Last Word: What could these wise words mean for your trusted champions? - “Ask the experienced rather than the learned.” Arabic Proverb: ...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... 112 12

SENSE OF PURPOSE Resilient Mindset Intention: by discovering a purpose to strive for and something meaningful in what you do, you will feel that your life is an exciting adventure. Japanese people call their reason for waking up every day, their ikigai. Often, a lack of motivation is caused by not having a purpose in your life. To feel that you matter comes from valuing yourself and having a sense of purpose, which enables you to focus your efforts on something bigger than yourself. What is something that means a lot to you which gives you a sense of purpose in your life and why?

REFLECTION TIME

DECEMBER AND 2022

Regular reflection of professional practice and encouraging honest feedback from critical friends are both essential and beneficial to the ongoing development of learning and teaching. At the end of each month reflect on our teaching practice and record thoughts below. This is a developmental exercise, not a judgemental one; be constructive. Did you achieve what you set out to do? Why or Why not?

Things that went well and why:

Things to improve on and how. Any professional development required?

Things to achieve in the future:

Things to follow up:

Ideas Bank:

“A sense of curiosity is nature’s original school of education.” Smiley Blanton 368
