Understanding Me Dear Parents and Teachers, Depending on students’ level of reading skills, you may have to assist them by explaining what’s involved in the lessons. There are no rights or wrongs, just learning experiences to develop their self-awareness, their self-regulation, impulse control and understanding of themselves. Empathy is introduced also.

ACTIVITY

My Feelings and Thinking This Lesson: Wellbeing Learning Intention is for children to learn that when their feelings become stronger that their thinking can be affected, making good choices hard to make. Share that being able to notice when their feelings are strong, enables them to settle themselves before doing or saying something. Mark the warning signs they feel are getting stronger on the body below. Then mark the body part.

Emergencies and Danger This Lesson: Wellbeing Learning Intention is for children to develop an awareness of what are possible dangerous situations and what to do in case of emergencies. As a class, brainstorm possible dangerous and emergency situations and ask them to draw one of these. As a class, create a list of emergency phone numbers to take home and write a script for what they could say if they had to ring 000; unfortunately many children find themselves in these situations. Dangerous or emergency situation and what I could do to stay safe.
