Draw yourself searching for words.
HAPPY AND HEALTHY For students to develop positive attitudes to life and healthy active lifestyles, it is important that we provide them with numerous opportunities to do good for others to feel good about themselves, and learn about healthy eating and exercise. This not only builds their own physical and social-emotional wellbeing, but it also brings the best out in other students around them.
Draw a picture of yourself running, swimming, riding a bike, skateboarding or other exercise you enjoy.
Draw a picture of two types of fresh and healthy vegetables and fruit you like.
Draw a picture of yourself doing jobs at home to help.
Draw a picture of yourself doing something good to help someone else.

DOLPHIN THINKING
OR
CROCODILE THINKING
Being able to recognise whether they are thinking sensibly with their rational mind, which we will call Dolphin Thinking (calm), or thinking with their emotional mind, which we will call Crocodile Thinking (snappy), is a valuable self-awareness skill to cultivate in students. Asking them often at home and in class, “are you thinking like a Dolphin or are you thinking like a Crocodile?”, will raise their self-awareness and self-control.
Dolphin Thinking – draw what I look and act like when I am thinking like a dolphin. My drawing of Dolphin Thinking
Crocodile Thinking – draw what I look and act like when I am thinking like a crocodile. My drawing of Crocodile Thinking

I CAN AND I WILL SELF-TALK Teaching students how to feel confident to use positive I can and I will self-talk, that they say so over and over to themselves in their heads, provides them with a powerful coping strategy when things don’t go their way. With the class, make up ten examples of positive I can and I will selftalk they could use to lift their efforts. For example, if they were scared, they could say, I can be brave and I will be brave to not be scared.

PERSONAL SAFETY AWARENESS Awareness of themselves and what is happening around them are important abilities to cultivate in students in order for them to keep themselves safe. As a class, brainstorm possible dangerous outcomes which could arise from the following situations, and then ask students to describe or draw them. What could happen to hurt yourself? Crossing a road, walking on a footpath, riding a bike, a scooter or a skateboard. Draw yourself doing one of these.
Burning yourself on a saucepan or hot plate, climbing something higher than you, or falling in a pool. Draw yourself doing one of these.

Describe or draw what could happen
GOOD WAYS TO ACT MAZE On pages 4 & 5 students wrote down or drew on the hand what they thought their best good ways to act were. Encourage students to use these well, and have fun working out how to get to the centre of the mazes below.
