2021 Resilient Mindset Student Planner
Name:
Year: 1
Resilient Mindset You won’t become the person who you want to become by just getting older. Many studies have shown that to achieve this, you need to develop a resilient mindset in yourself. A resilient mindset means that you are willing and able to have Grateful Connections, SelfControl, Empathy and Self- Belief. Throughout this planner there are questions on each of these, and by thinking about and writing down your thoughts about them you will develop a resilient mindset. For each of these colour in on the graph where you feel you are at right now.
ì Grateful Connections: being grateful for your relationships with others and positive about what you have. 1

CHAMPION THREE Use self-talk to practise saying what you will say to share with your champions.
Nothing will shock your champions, because they care for you. They will always listen.
Why did you choose each of these people? ...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... ......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Last Word: What could these wise words mean for your trusted champions? - “Ask the experienced rather than the learned.” Arabic Proverb: ...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... 112
Lesson Four SENSE OF PURPOSE Resilient Mindset Intention: by discovering a purpose to strive for and something meaningful in what you do, you will feel that your life is an exciting adventure. Japanese people call their reason for waking up every day, their ikigai. Often, a lack of motivation is caused by not having a purpose in your life. To feel you that matter, comes from valuing yourself and having a sense of purpose, which enables you to focus your efforts on something bigger than yourself. What is something that means a lot to you which gives you a sense of purpose in your life and why?

Lesson Five CHARACTER STRENGTHS WHEEL Resilient Mindset Intention: for you to understand that that there are 24 Character Strengths, that you have your own personal mix of them, and that using your top Character strengths are your personal best ways of looking at and doing what you do. Google Tiffany Schlain Character Strengths to watch a great youtube clip, “Science of Character.” Acknowledgement: Seligman & Peterson
To learn what your top strengths are, do the Youth Strengths Survey at www.viacharacter.org What were your thoughts on the order in which they came out? ...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... ...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... ......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

What could these wise words mean for you - “Don’t wish to be anything but what you are and try to be that perfectly.” St Francis de Sales: ...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... ......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Last Word: how could you deliberately use your strengths every day?: ...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... ...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... 115
Lesson Eleven RESILIENCE SKILLS Resilient Mindset Intention: for you to understand how you can make other people’s live much happier when you do acts of kindness for them. Also, to practise being self-kind to yourself. Serotonin and oxytocin are the rewards that you will feel when you do this.
Last Word: make up 5 self-kind mantras to put on the mirror for each day of this week? For example, I believe that I have what it takes to do the hard things that I need to do. 1.
................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Lesson Twelve TOTAL ENGAGEMENT: FLOW Resilient Mindset Intention: for you to understand that when you totally engage yourself in an activity, you provide yourself with an opportunity to experience a state called flow, where your creativity can increase fivefold. For flow to occur in class, you need to be clear on the purpose and learning intention of the lesson, you need feedback on how you are learning, and your skills need to be matched to a challenge which really stretches them. Acknowledgement: Nakamura, Kotler & Csikszentmihalyi
Google Chris Bliss juggling to see a person experiencing flow. What feelings do you think he is feeling? Do you think he is losing track of time? ...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... ...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... ...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... ......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
What is an activity you love doing, where you forget about time and are totally involved doing it? Is it an enjoyable experience? ...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... ...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... ...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... ......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
When you are doing any activity, you will feel one of the states in this diagram, depending on how much the challenge of the activity stretches your skill levels. For each of these states describe an activity you do. Apathy: ............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................ ......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Worry: ............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... ......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Boredom: ...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... ......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
