What Previous Participants Say ARP 1 – Future Leaders: Introduction to Leadership and Managing Teams “It gave me an excellent insight into why I work the way that I do as well as a deeper understanding of the way in which others work and how this affects my relationships with them.” “This course provided me with a broad but structured overview of leadership and management, allowing me to critically access my abilities in different areas and understand my strengths and identify weaknesses. For me this was empowering and enabled me to consider different career options that perhaps I wouldn't have previously considered resulting in the executive role I now have.”
ARP 2 – Managing the Human Factor: Leading and Managing Your Research Team “The course was very interesting and good fun; as well as helping identify my own faults as a supervisor, it has also helped me deal with more difficult students.” “This course was good in that it showed how staff management could be improved. Not the least of its benefits was that it made me much more self aware of how I worked and how I related to staff.” “It certainly changed my management of staff to our mutual benefit.”
ARP 3 – Strategic Leadership and Management for Senior Academic Staff “I think the course did everything it says on the bottle and more. I found it thought provoking and it led us through, by reflecting on our current situation, how we did it in the past and how we could face the future better armed to deal with many potential leadership and management issues.” “It also provided a nice group setting of fellow academics that have continued to act as a cohesive group for support and interaction within the College and this was an unexpected bonus.” “It provided me with new ways of thinking about how to manage my research group particularly as it has expanded.” “I think that this is one of the best training and learning experiences for anyone considering inputting into their career.”
