Project Objective

In addition to helping migrant workers living in purpose-built dormitories, Sojourn expanded its reach to those living in factory-converted dormitories around Little India. Our new premise within Sojourn Café, at 14 Flanders Square, performs a dual role as a soup kitchen for malnourished migrant workers and as a help desk for those requiring our support and assistance. The project requires us to find a suitable solution to solve the challenge statement regarding the existing community.

Design Concept

Through spatial analytics and user research on the existing cafe, we found out that the area has low accessibility but general good feedbacks from the public. How Might We create an interactive experience for visitors to come and learn about the migrant workers culture while enhancing their dining experience through various visuals and activities, giving visitors a chance to understand and empathise the migrant workers?”

From that we came up with a series of interior designs and programmes that aims to provide more interactions between the public and migrant workers.
