In this studio, students will propose new model for future living by designing their own unique prefabricated housing systems

These housing systems are a response to the unmet housing needs today, and the inevitably of demographic changes or migration patterns as a form of climate adaptation and resilience in the future.

Background data

Those living with their spouses and without children increased from 19.4 percent in 2010 to 26.5 per cent in 2020, forming the second most common living arrangement.From the data, Singapore must be a home where seniors can age meaningfully with confidence and peace of mind.

Design Concept

The residential space emphasises strongly on connectivity between each levels. The space is being designed with 2 different floor plan layouts stack above each other with each serving a different purpose. The sharing unit acts as the core of each level which allows residents from all walks of life to come together and bond.

Persona 1, 2-Room, 44 Sqm, 56Units

Jane & Harry, Aged 72 and 70 years old, married - Wants to stay near their children & enjoy the retirement

Persona 2, 4-Room, 100 Sqm, 32Units

Jernad & Billy, Aged 32 and 35 years old, married - Stays with their one year old child and enjoys family time

Persona 3, Sharing Units, 26.5Sqm, 56Units

Tom, Aged 69 years old, single - Stays alone ,often lonely & has problems taking care of himself
