This course is ideal if you are passionate about the creative industry and wish to develop your music, performing arts and creative media skills to progress on to university.
You may already be working in the industry as a performer, filmmaker, social media influencer, sound engineer or set designer, amongst others, and wish to study your subject area in more depth. It is also suitable if you are thinking of a career change or wish to gain qualifications.
You will benefit from working with state-of-the-art industry-standard equipment at our Quarry Hill Campus. Here, you will enhance your understanding of critical thinking and academic writing in preparation for higher education – while developing skills and techniques under the supervision of our passionate teachers, who are true experts in the industry.
Progression may include a creative arts degree in Drama, Dance, Film Production, Journalism or Music.
Access to HE Art and Design
Access to HE Diploma Level 3
Start date: Various Duration: 1 year Study: Full-time, 2 days per week Location: Eastgate, Quarry Hill Campus
This qualification is the perfect step to an Art and Design or other creative degree at university. By studying this course, you will develop specialist skills and creative ways of working and thinking independently in a supportive studio environment. You will also be encouraged to explore your critical thinking skills and contextual referencing for progression.
Your professional creative practice will be developed through studio-based making and some additional online learning. This course culminates in a final major project in which you will prepare work for exhibition.
Progression routes may include a relevant creative arts degree.
Access to HE Computer Games
Access to HE Diploma Level 3
Start date: Various Duration: 1 year Study: Full-time, 2 days per week Location: Quarry Hill Campus
Interested in studying computer games at university but don’t have the required qualifications? An Access to HE course can provide entry to an array of degrees; to find out, simply check the requirements of your chosen university.
This course gives you sound knowledge of computer games development, 3D modelling, programming, concept art and web development. You will also develop crucial skills for degree-level study, such as academic writing, time management, research, referencing and employment-related skills.
Progression may include the Computer Games foundation degree at University Centre Leeds.
Access to HE Graphic Design and Illustration
Access to HE Diploma Level 3

Study: Full-time Duration: 1 year Location: Quarry Hill Campus
This qualification aims to prepare you to study a graphic design, illustration or visual communication course at university. You will develop specialist digital and traditional techniques within a supportive environment, allowing you to nurture your own practice while encouraging you to explore critical thinking skills ready for progression.
You will develop your professional practice via project-based activities within a studio setting, with some additional online learning. This course culminates in a final major project in which you will prepare work for exhibition.
You will receive tailored advice on how and where to progress, which may include a relevant creative arts degree.
Access to Photography
Access to HE Diploma Level 3

Study: Full-time or part-time Duration: 1 year Location: The Annexe, Quarry Hill Campus
This qualification will perfectly prepare you to study a photography or visual communication course at university. Develop specialist digital and traditional photographic techniques within a supportive environment, allowing you to nurture your own practice while encouraging you to explore critical thinking skills ready for progression.
You will study commercial and artistic photography via traditional and digital processes, gaining valuable insight into the lens-based practice within the wider industry. You will also develop your professional practice via project-based activities across both studio and location settings, along with traditional and digital image editing techniques – underpinned by academic study skills to support your progression. Your final major project will be exhibited professionally within our campuses and at external venues.

General Sewing
(ACL) Wellbeing Course

Course Code: 78390–29 Duration: 12 weeks
Location: Deacon House
Whether you’re a sewing novice or you want to build on skills you’ve already got, this course puts the emphasis on being fun and informal. Aimed at learners of all abilities, you will develop your social and personal interaction skills, as well as building confidence in basic sewing, pinning and fabric skills.
You will learn how to set up and thread a machine to achieve a variety of seams and finishes on different fabrics, discover how to choose the right needle for the fabric and stitch pattern, and learn skills in using a variety of different stitch patterns.
Progression may include the Crafts and Wellbeing course at Deacon House.
