PREPARE FOR A LIFE IN THE ARMED FORCES

Break through boundaries with our Military Preparation programme. Designed for potential recruits, on this course you’ll complete a variety of fitness, teamwork, drill, and swimming sessions in preparation for armed forces’ selection tests. You’ll meet with a variety of staff and personnel, as well as experiencing career talks and guidance on the armed forces application process.

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?

Anyone who is interested in joining the armed forces. Maybe you are a school leaver looking for a Level 3 qualification to prepare you for a faster progression in the forces, or maybe you’re required to resit your English and maths GCSEs to secure the job of your choice? Some of our applicants have enrolled on the course following unsuccessful attempts to join the forces, while others require additional support to improve their swimming, fitness or understanding of job roles in the military.

UNITS / MODULES

During this course, you will learn how to:

• Prepare for a career in the armed forces. • Develop aspects of physical fitness for entry to the

Uniformed Services. • Skills for land-based outdoor and adventurous activities. • Preparing food for fitness and in the field. • Strengthen your swimming.

• Develop a fitness training programme to prepare you for your entry tests and basic training. • Participate in team activities and explore what it takes to become a key team player.

2020 saw the department create a new working relationship with the Royal Marines that gave learners the opportunity to visit Royal Marine Commando Training Centre, Lympstone. Learners had the opportunity to experience life as a recruit and experience the world renowned ‘Sheep Dip’ as well as being put through their paces on the Bottom Field and experiencing the infamous gym tests. Learners also had guest speakers visit the campus from the RAF Regiment, British Army as well as charities including The Royal British Legion and Help for Heroes. • Prepare for military drills including uniform preparation, presentation, and hygiene. • Immerse yourself in military life with our insight days and residentials to barracks across the UK.
