TYPICAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR FOUNDATION DEGREES, HNC, HND, LLB (HONS)

Each option below refers to what you typically need to achieve at that qualification level to progress on to a foundation degree, HNC, HND or LLB. Please note, entry requirements may be dependent on specific course requirements.

• A level - Two A levels at grade D or above. • BTEC - Level 3 diploma or extended diploma with MM/MMP. • GCSE - A number (dependent on course) at grade 4 preferably including English and maths. • International qualifications - Assessed against the above criteria. • Speakers of other languages - IELTS score of at least 6.0 (no less than 5.5 in any one pathway) or recognised level 2 English qualification. • Mature students - Will be interviewed to assess if we are a match for your needs.

TYPICAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR FOUNDATION DEGREES WITH FOUNDATION YEAR

Each option below refers to what you typically need to achieve at that qualification level to progress on to a foundation degree with foundation year.

• A level - Two A levels at grade U or above. • BTEC - PP in a diploma or subsidiary diploma (minimum offer is four GCSEs at grade 4 or above). • GCSE - Three GCSEs at grade 4 or above (or the numerical equivalent) preferably including English and maths (minimum offer is four GCSEs at grade 4 or above (or the numerical equivalent) with an expectation to enrol on appropriate GCSE programmes if grade 4 in GCSE English and maths has not been achieved.

TYPICAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR BA (HONS) AND BSC (HONS) TOP-UP DEGREES

Each option below refers to what you typically need to achieve at that qualification level to progress on to a BA (Hons) and BSc (Hons) top-up degree.

• Foundation degree - 50% or above in a relevant subject from a UK institution. • HND - Merit profile in a relevant subject. • GCSE - A number at grade 4 minimum, preferably including English and maths. • International qualifications - Assessed against the above criteria. • Speakers of other languages - IELTS score of at least 6.0 (with no less in any one pathway or recognised Level 2 English qualification.

TYPICAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR MASTERS DEGREES

Each option below refers to what you typically need to achieve at that qualification level to progress on to a master’s degree.

• BA/BSc, BEng (hons) degree - 2:2 or above in a relevant subject. • Professional/vocational qualifications - Candidates who have completed a relevant professional or vocational qualification equivalent to Level 7 credits may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). • International qualifications - Assessed against the above criteria. • Speakers of other languages - IELTS score of at least 6.0 (with no less than 5.5 in any one pathway) or recognised Level 2 English qualification.

TYPICAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR CERT EDs, PGCEs PRE-SERVICE/IN-SERVICE

Each option below refers to what you typically need to achieve at that qualification level to progress on to a Certificate in Education or PGCE either pre-service or in-service.

PGCEs (pre-service) • BA/BSc (hons) - 2:2 or equivalent. If your degree isn’t in your main teaching area, you will be required to hold at least a minimum of NVQ (NQF) Level 3 in your vocational area. • A level - Two at grade D or equivalent. • GCSE - Five subjects, including three at grade 4 or above which must include English and maths. • Attend and successfully pass an interview. • Satisfactory enhanced check for regulated activity with the

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

PGCEs (in-service) The same level of qualifications as the pre-service PGCE but you will also have a minimum of 50 hours of teaching experience.

Cert Ed (in-service) As above but you will be required to hold a minimum of NVQ (NQF) Level 3 in your vocational area.

TYPICAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR APPRENTICESHIPS

There are no standard entry requirements for apprenticeships as they differ depending on level and apprenticeship standard. Please see each individual apprenticeship page for specific requirements.
