ADDITIONAL SUPPORT

LEARNING DIFFICULTIES AND DISABILITIES Students with learning difficulties, long-term physical and sensory impairments or mental health difficulties, can discuss their needs with our staff who will help determine what support is available. Support can range from one-to-one sessions, adapted materials, learning support workers, assistive technology and mobility assistance.

DISABLED STUDENTS’ ALLOWANCES (DSA) If needed, the dedicated support staff will help you apply for DSA. They are paid on top of other finance and help cover costs you incur due to your disability. They don’t have to be repaid and the amount given is based on your individual needs.

DSAs can help with the costs of specialist equipment, assistive technology, non-medical helpers, extra travel allowance and other disability-related costs. If it is determined through the assessment process that you need a specific computer, you may need to pay the first £200. Please ask the HE Learning Support Officer for more information.
