INSPIRATIONAL WOMEN- HANNAH by Emily Ankers Photos by Hannah Morris

Hannah speaks openly about her struggles with mental health and I find her honesty very inspiring. What is so great about Hannah is that she doesn’t try to paint a perfect picture of her life, but shows us all the realities, both the battles and the victories. Sometimes we forget that social media is a highlights reel, Hannah reminds us of this by talking about remembering not to compare ourselves to others and to live our own lives to the full!

6

Hannah is a rock climber and outdoor adventurer. She is Leeds based but loves to travel to near and far places, documenting her adventures through photography and short films. She is hard working when it comes to conquering physical activity, striving to be healthy but balanced, both in body and mind. Not only is she an amazing rock climber, but the way that she captures her adventures showcase her creative talent. Hannah’s videos not only deal with the outdoors and climbing but also real issues that we all face in life.

I have been feeling really demotivated to exercise lately but have taken a shine to dancing around the house with my music blasting. The only problem is once I get into the music and really start to move my boobs hurt, what can I do?

Well done! It is great that you have found a form of exercise that you are enjoying so let’s help take that pain away. Firstly it can be very normal to feel this way when exercising. It is really important to wear a sports bra when exercising as it helps prevent muscles damage, provides support and it is way more comfortable to be working out in a sports bra. If you don’t know where to start here are some tips.

Teen Connect Out of hours support for young people in Leeds (11-18years) who feel they are in mental health crisis. TIPS

Ensure you get the right size, some shops offer a measuring service , however you can also use a sizing chart online. There are different types of sports bras suited towards different exercises, you can pick up low, medium and high impact. So when buying do a little research. Make sure you feel comfortable. If you feel good in the clothes you are working out in then

you will enjoy it more.

SELF-CARE IDEAS

PAINT YOUR NAILS This can be a great way to escape and relax because let’s be honest if you get up and go too soon your nails will smudge. So pick your favourite colour, put your feet up and give those nails a well-deserved make over.

SKIN CARE

**contents may vary

Pop on a face mask, foot mask, and hand mask? The options are endless. Give your skin a cleanse and a bit of care.

TAKE A BREAK FROM SCREEN TIME

01

Seems impossible I know? We are all guilty of endlessly scrolling through social media. Although there are many positives to social media, it is also important to have time away from the screen and be in the moment.

DANI'S FABULOUS CUPCAKES

TAK YOU E A PICT R CU U PCAK RE OF ES & THE S M T @LE O US END EDSG IRLSC ANT EEN S

BY DANI PENNEY Ingredients (makes 6 large) 120g softened butter 120g of self raising flour (gluten free optional) 120g caster sugar 1 egg 1 tsp Vanilla essence Small bag of chocolate buttons Frosting 50g softened butter 70g Icing sugar 30g cocoa powder 2 tbsp milk

Method - Pre heat oven to 160 degrees (fan oven) or 180 if not or gas mark 4. - Be careful. -Line a baking tray with bun cases - Cream together butter and sugar with a wooden spoon - Crack an egg in a jug and mix, slowly beat the egg into the mixture - Add Vanilla essence and beat again - Fold in the flour with a spoon (this is a gentle movement so make sure you do not beat again) - Spoon the mixture into cases, about half full and add 3-4 buttons on top, once complete add more mixture to the top of the case. - Bake for around 20 minutes until the edges start to brown (do not wait until the entire cupcake is brown) - Remove from oven and carefully place the cupcakes on a tray to cool completely before frosting (tempting I know but it will be worth the wait)

31

Time for the frosting - Place softened butter into a jug or bowl and sieve in icing sugar and cocoa power. - Mix together with a whisk until smooth - Add milk for a looser consistency and stir well.

The fun part‌ Get decorating, be as creative as you like or keep it super simple.
