1.1 The Team Jim Pannell heads up the team and has nearly 10 years of hands-on internet development, design and project management experience. Jim oversees all aspects of the site development from design to computer programming to internet marketing. Matt Lovell and Kelvin Mackay are Six Media’s web programmers. Between them they have nearly 25 years programming experience. They specialise in PHP, Perl and MySQL powered website development and we like to think that they are amongst the best in the industry at what they do. Chris Gartside acts as an additional web designer / builder and would have a say in the final design of any website we built for you. Shane Quigley and Robin Skidmore are our resident search engine optimisation specialists. They have a wealth of experience in internet marketing and specialise in page optimisation and managing successful paid search campaigns (using the likes of Google Adwords etc).

2.0 Site Design Methodology Six Media recommend that you set up a system that caters for expansion and flexibility in allowing the content of your site to grow. As a part of our dynamic development methodology, we identify the following ingredients that make a successful website. These characteristics can be incorporated into your site, to fulfil and enhance your objectives.

2.1 Fast Loading The biggest single reason visitors do not stay at a Website is that it takes too long to load - that is the time it takes for the page to appear on the computer screen. Your site needs to be designed around the premise of 'loading' as quickly as possible. To achieve this Six Media will ensure a strong text base for the pages (text loads very, very quickly). When photographs are used, we will tailor them to be the appropriate size and structure to ensure that they load within an appropriate timeframe.

2.2 Browser Compatibility The site needs to be compatible for viewing across a wide range of user platforms and browser software. We will test the site with many different browsers on both Macs and PCs to ensure that the vast majority of visitors can see the site quickly and easily.

2.3 Look A website today represents the first contact point for many prospective clients. It is, in a nutshell, showing how professional a company is, and what kind of attitude they have in selling themselves. In full consultation with you, we will discuss the interface and layout of the site with you, to ensure the site is attractive, appealing and reflects the appropriate image. We utilise extensive usability surveys to ensure the site is simple to navigate to encourage usage.

2.3 Precise (right) Information Along with having an appealing and attractive look and feel to the site, the content of the site must be precisely what the user needs to see. Additionally, search engine positioning must be considered and the site will be developed with key words and placement of same as a consideration.

2.4 Information Structure A clear, crisp view of the information on the site is paramount in relation to finding specific information on a site. We would use databases to store articles and information of interest. To provide major benefit to the business, the site should have significant amounts of information available to the user. This information must be easily found and presented in such a way as to encourage use. Information on the site must be able to be quickly and easily updated, by your staff.

2.5 Interactivity Without interactivity, a website is purely a book online. Interactive sites capture user details online and monitor what users do inside the system. The more visitors can interact and 'do things' on the site, the more likely they are to revisit. The importance of having visitors return is found in the statistic that people will buy from you after an average of seven previous visits.

2.6 Our “Bulletproof” Concept In the real world, a bulletproof vest never guarantees complete, 100% protection. Nevertheless, you’re far better protected wearing one than if you weren’t! The same rule applies to web design and the techniques used to build web sites. By increasing a page’s flexibility and taking the necessary steps to ensure that a site is readable in as many circumstances as possible, you’re doing everything you can to guarantee maximum accessibility. That means that sites will be viewable in as many browsers as possible, regardless of computer platform, and including mobile phones, Pocket PCs and other mobile computers. Six Media achieves this by embracing web standards such as semantic XHTML and CSS. It is with these tools that we are able to construct compelling, adaptable web sites that simply work!
