Afterglow Unknown
I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one, I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I’d like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun, of happy memories that I leave when life is done.

Obituary
“It’s not what you gather, but what you scatter that tells you what kind of life you have lived.” - Helen Watson God’s Purpose: Min. Leon M. (Corky) Render, II was born on August 1, 1952 to the late Leon Render Sr and Arabella Render in Cincinnati, OH. Leon began his walk with Christ while in Cincinnati, OH where he was baptized at Zion Baptist Church. He later joined the Inspirational Baptist Church in Cincinnati, OH under the leadership of Dr. Terriel Byrd, where he was a founding member of the “Wings of Hope,” and served as an Associate Minister. Leon loved telling everyone he knew about Jesus Christ. Even when not preaching in the pulpit, he wanted his life to be a reflection of Christ’s love to all of God’s people. Before his passing Leon celebrated his 24th year of being clean, something he was most THANKFUL to God for, and was not ashamed to let anyone know. Education: Leon was educated in the Cincinnati Public School District. He attended Woodward High School and was a member of the swim team. He later went on to continue his education at Knoxville College in Knoxville, TN, earning his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, and was a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. He also earned Graduate hours in Education from Xavier University, where he was a part of the first Educational Cohort at the university. His other hours were earned at Cincinnati Christian College for his Religion studies. Experiences: Leon made the decision to protect and serve his country and joined the US Army in December 1984 in Fort Bragg, NC. During his time in the military, he served as the Colonel’s Driver, and was a crewmember for the 13M-30 Multiple Rocket Launch System. He also served in Kuwait during “Operation Desert Storm.” While in the desert he answered the voice of the Lord, “to preach the gospel.” He earned several ribbons and medals before being honorably discharged in October 1991. After being discharged, Leon worked with various agencies within Hamilton County (CCY, Black Male Coalition and Cincinnati Job Corps) that dealt with troubled male youth. His passion was to encourage them “to do better and be better.” Leon also worked as a teacher in the Cincinnati Public School District as a Long-Term Substitute from February 2001-May 2010. Leon loved to travel and worked for Comair Airlines from December 2000-May 2010. In May of 2010, and not being far from retirement, Leon went to work for Regional Elite Airline Services in Detroit, MI, and retired in October 2013. Prior to his passing he was employed by AK Steel in Middletown, OH Accomplishments: One of his greatest accomplishments was marrying his best friend, Dana (Morris) Render, on August 22, 1998. Although no children were born out of this union, Leon loved family, traveling and sharing. He knew no strangers and made friends where ever he went.
