SCRAP Written by Vivian Kerr Directed by Leena Pendharkar Produced by Sapna Ghandi

STORY

Scrap is a short film about the fine line that we all tow between poverty and security. Beth is a young woman who is in dire straights and living out of her car. She’s hustling to find work so she and her daughter can move in some place… But it isn’t easy.

Tone: Neo-Realist Drama

Set in everyday Los Angeles

With an urban sense of space/place

Behind the backdrop harsh realities

Inside of Beth’s sanctuary—her car

Camera Style: Natural lighting, shallow depth

Subjective POV: Exploring loneliness from a female perspective

And a protagonist who feels detached from her environment

And is ashamed to be honest with her brother

Who leads the illusion of the idyllic family life

But throughout, there are moments of beauty/order

With pops of color

And deeper themes around love, security and finding belonging
