Candidates for Arlington School Board seem to be unanimous that the school system needs to get more creative in accommodating a growing high-school population, before it embarks on planning for a fourth comprehensive high school. The comments came as the four candidates for the Democratic endorsement squared off in their first debate, held April 6 during the monthly meeting of the Arlington County Democratic Committee. “Let’s look at high school a little differently,” said Tannia Talento, one of three first-time candidates who will share the Democratic ballot with School Board Vice Chairman Nancy Van Doren. The top two finishers in the May caucus will move on to the Nov. 8 general election. Talento, who has the backing of School Board Chairman Emma Violand-Sánchez (who is not seeking re-election), said she would like to see high school more closely reflect college – with students coming and going to class throughout the day.
