BACKGROUND December 2002: OIL INDUSTRY COUP SHUTDOWN

The oil workers movement, upon taking direct and democratic control of the industry to defeat the technological sabotage, recover and stabilize production, become aware of the need to take on the responsibility which they have as the working class, aimed at the economic, political and social transformation of the country.


LEGAL JUSTIFICATIONS This initiative is a leap forward in the policy of democratizing higher education, in accordance with the following Articles: 3, 102 y 103 of the Constitution 7, 27 108 of the Education Laws

Constitution Art. 3: Establishes as one of the essential objectives of the State: .… “the construction of a just and peace loving society,” ... “Education and work are the fundamental processes to reach these goals” Ed. Law Art. 7: “The education process will be closely linked to work, with the aim of harmonizing education with the productive processes necessary for national and regional development…..”


The Bolivarian Workers University

The Bolivarian Workers University “Jesús Rivero”, is the organisation of the working class to generate the knowledge necessary for the accomplishment of our productive, political and social practices. Bringing together into a single process Education and Work, headed towards the construction of a socialist society. How to achieve this?


WHAT ARE WE PROPOSING? To adopt an integral process of self-training based on our productive activities, combined with a humanitarian consciousness for the generation of scientific and technological knowledge.

With what aim in mind? To attain our technological independence as the essential tool for our national, independent and sovereign development.


VISION To develop the University as a center of

companies

and

the

production of goods and services necessary to satisfy the needs of society as a whole; the use of science and technology to consolidate national sovereignty and the use of financial resources for productive

investment

with

the

objective

of

constructing a productive, just, peace loving society – in other words a socialist society.

OBJECTIVES: To consolidate the class consciousness of the Working Class based on the values underpinning the Bolivarian Socialist Revolution. To evaluate the level of knowledge and technological development in Strategic National Industries and promote research in line with the needs required for the development of productive forces. To systematize, deepen and disseminate knowledge and experience generated in productive and social practices by the workers and the Venezuelan people.

AGREEMENTS WHICH SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE BOLIVARIAN WORKERS UNIVERSITY •September 2005. Agreement “El Plumerillo” between the Bolivarian Workers University and the Shipyard ”Rio Santiago” in Argentina to construct the Bolivarian Workers University of Latin America and the Caribbean.

•October 2005. Agreement with Mission Sucre to consider the Bolivarian Workers University as a University Village.


AGREEMENTS WHICH SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE BOLIVARIAN WORKERS UNIVERSITY •December 2005. Agreement with the Bolivarian University of Venezuela (UBV) to provide academic and teacher support as well as Gradute Porgrams of the UBV.

May 2006. Agreement between the Bolivarian Workers University and the Association of State Workers of the Republic of Argentina (ATE).

May 2006. Agreement between the Bolivarian Workers University and the National Movement for Recuperated Companies of the Republic of Argentina.

January 2007. Strategic Agreement for Academic Cooperation between the National Experimental University “Simon Rodriguez” and the Bolivarian Workers University.
