Tigers chief executive officer Andrea Pinchen reflects on her first full season in the role.

A lot has changed here since my first day on the job as CEO at the club.

Over the past year, since the outbreak of Covid-19, the club has been on a journey, not just for success, but simply to survive.

Some of my first tasks in the role were some of the hardest I’ve ever faced in my career, including financial challenges, the safety of employees and wellpublicised pay cuts, as well as a redundancy process.

All of those tough decisions were made with two clear objectives: Ensuring the survival of the Club and working towards success on the pitch.

The first has been achieved and I believe we have made huge steps forward on the second.

The drive and clarity introduced by Steve Borthwick and his team have bred results on the pitch, including our first visit to a Twickenham final since 2013. We’re by no means the finished article yet, but these are positive steps in the right direction.

Today, we can finally welcome you back to Mattioli Woods Welford Road - something we have been unable to do since February 2020.

We’ve missed your cheers and your passion in the stands and, although we are at a much reduced capacity this afternoon, I know the cheer when Tom Youngs leads the team out to Smoke On The Water will be deafening - I cannot wait!

As the season comes to a close, I hope you too share my positivity at the position of the club and can see the steps we’ve made. There’s still plenty to do on and off the pitch ahead of what we all hope will be a new season of normality, with a full 25,000plus supporters in full voice in the stadium as we welcome the 2021-22 campaign.

On a personal note, I simply want to thank each and every one of you for your continued and unwavering support through these unprecedented times.

This pandemic has affected us all to a greater or lesser extent, and to celebrate the easing of restrictions and a return to live sport with you this afternoon will be a very special moment indeed.
