Ice skating is a cool experience whatever your age or ability and where better to give it a go than at Swindon Ice Arena? The Link Centre houses the international sized (26m x 56m) ice rink and provides an extensive programme including public skating, ice hockey, figure skating, ice dance and pairs skating, as well as Learn to Skate courses and private lessons. There are a range of ice skating sessions on offer to suit all ages and abilities, from Sub Zero teen disco sessions to quieter sessions for beginners and families.
Under 8’s Must be supervised by a responsible adult 16+ years old.
Under 12’s Must be supervised by a responsible adult after 6pm

Whether you are a seasoned skater or a newcomer to the ice arena, the following tips should make your visit more enjoyable: Clothing - dress comfortably but avoid hats, scarves, big coats or baggy clothing. Gloves - Wear gloves as they keep your hands warm and give you added protection. Skates - lace skates up tightly and make sure they are a good fit, especially around your ankles. Hire skates are available from infant size 5 to senior size 13. Ice Stewards - are provided on busy sessions for your safety and enjoyment so please ensure you follow their guidance and abide by the rules. Lockers - are provided for personal items for a small charge. Before visiting - telephone reception for session availability to avoid disappointment.

Lavazza Café & Bar
Edge and Balance Improve skills with edge technique and balance work. Improve your fitness, stamina, flexibility and posture with a qualified instructor. This is for beginners who are competent in forward and backward skating with the ability to glide on one foot. Own hockey or figure skates needed. Friday (term time)

Courses Learn to Skate Whether you are aiming to become a top skater or want to skate for fun, the best way to improve is to join one of our group courses. At Link Centre’s Ice Academy, we have structured lesson plans where skating techniques progress from complete beginner to intermediate. Courses are available for all ages from 5+ years through to adults.
Ice Coaches Ice Coaches are more than happy to offer advice. Please speak to them at the end of your coaching session or when they come off the ice. Visit the “our coaches” board in the ice arena.
The ice skating and free skating courses will teach you the disciplines required to feed into the ice hockey and figure skating clubs.
Free Skating – Bronze, Silver & Gold (5-16+ years) National Skate U.K. Grades 1 to 10 (5-16+ years) Progress from beginner to intermediate stages under the 10 level National Skate U.K. Awards Scheme. Learn a wide range of techniques. Badges are awarded for each level.

Private Lesson Description Free Skating Includes field moves, compulsory elements and free skating programmes (jumps, spins, steps and spirals).
Ice Dance Includes compulsory dance, dance field moves, original dance and free dance programmes (steps, solo or as a couple, small spins and lifts).
Pairs
Private Lessons We offer a range of private lessons that can be booked via your coach. All lessons are for 15 minutes duration. The cost does not include the patch or session slot. All coaches hold current National Ice Skating Association (NISA) licences.
Includes moves in the field, compulsory elements and free programmes (steps, spirals, spins, pairs spins, death spirals, jumps and lifts).
Ice Hockey Skills Includes quick moves, turns, stops and controlled skating (cone work, weaving, speed skating, fast stopping and quick turning).
Leisure Memberships
Patches Patches are sessions which skaters (who have achieved grade 4 or above of the National Skate U.K. Award Scheme) can book to practise and perfect their skills with or without a lesson. Patches must be booked in advance and the coach (if required) should be booked at the same time to guarantee availability. Figure skates must be worn.

Competitions The Link Centre’s ice arena hosts many national and international competitions throughout the year. Club competitions are held with all levels catered for from grade 5 of the National Skate U.K. Award Scheme to level 10 of the National Ice Skating Association. The club also enters national competitions.
Ice Hockey Link Centre is proud to be the home of the Wildcats Ice Hockey Team, a professional team who compete in the English Premier Ice Hockey League. Home fixtures are held most Saturdays from September to April.

Celebrate your birthday party in style on ice! Have fun with your friends skating at one of our general sessions unsupervised, or book a 30 minute introduction with a member of the ice team, after which you and your friends can join the general skate session and skate to your heart’s content. Parental supervision is required and the minimum age is 8 years old.
Celebrate Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Halloween (as available) with our themed disco sessions. Selected music, competitions, fancy dress and spot prizes make these fun sessions ones to remember.
