As 2023 draws to a close, we’re excited to share all our exciting news from the past few months with you. This year has been one of growth for Gharieni – both in our ever-expanding partnerships with luxury spas around the world, and in our own company, where we’ve had some exciting changes and additions.
We’ve formed our first-ever Strategic Advisory Board this year (see page 28), made up of some of the top minds in the industry, with backgrounds in skincare, branding, strategy, communications, and operations. This marks a significant step forward for our company as we continue to cement our position as a leader in the spa and wellness industry, and we’re so happy to have the support, guidance and insight of these experts as they help us drive our business forward.
Also helping to drive our business forward is the addition of new team member Milana Knowles, who joins Gharieni as Vice President of Business Development for the United States (see page 29). Many in the industry know Milana, whose energy, enthusiasm and expertise will help propel our growth trajectory in the US marketplace. A seasoned beauty and wellness executive, Milana is particularly skilled at building strong partnerships, and we’re thrilled to have her on our team.
Partnering with others has always been a strong focus for Gharieni, and this month we highlight a few such collaborations. At the beautiful Galgorm Resort in Northern Ireland (see page 8), we’ve teamed up with OTO, makers of natural CBD products, to create a signature treatment using their products and our Quartz bed. We've also just announced a partnership with Parisian skincare brand Yon-Ka (see page 18), and together, we'll introduce a new era of multi-sensorial, technology-powered, and results-driven experiences for the skin, mind and body. We’re thrilled with these new partnerships, and we look forward to more exciting collaborations in the future.

Galgorm Resort – Northern Ireland’s Premier luxury hotel and spa – has just launched a new OTO CBD Signature Treatment that uses Gharieni’s MLX Quartz bed, promising an all-encompassing treatment that will leave guests feeling refreshed and energized.
The treatment begins with a meditative soundscape voyage combined with an intuitive hand and foot wellness ritual incorporating guided breath. The heated quartz sand from Gharieni’s table cocoons the body for ultimate relaxation, as the skin is exfoliated through skin brushing and a cooling mitt swipe that is designed to activate the guest’s Endocannabinoid system, which allows for maximum absorption of OTO CBD products. The treatment then uses the guest’s chosen OTO oil in a muscle-relieving massage that combines the therapist's hands, bamboo
rollers and carefully chosen crystals, then finishes with a tensionreleasing signature OTO massage of the décolleté, face and scalp.

We sat down with Daniel Spencer, Director of Spa, to learn more about this exciting new destination.
Can you tell us more about The Spa at Séc-he and the experiences you offer?
The Spa at Sec-he is a one-of-a-kind location, and the goal is to blend elements of nature and technology while providing unique experiences for our guests.
Gharieni is a good fit for all that it offers – enhanced features, quality, and esthetics of design. The Welnamis table, with its vibro-acoustic therapy, is used during all facials, and the MO1 with built-in vibration is run in every treatment as an initial setting on the massage table. The Pedispa Square allows the guest to lie fully back, which enables the provider to enhance the treatment with neck wraps, eye massage pillows, and audio sets while the guest rests without strain on their neck. The binaural vibro-acoustic loungers Welnamis and Satori enhance our relaxation zones for personalized and self-guided therapy, while the MLX Quartz bed offers an
immersive and unique experience that resembles the feeling of being in the desert, lying on the heated desert sands. By blending the experience of nature with the treatments as well as our scrubs and wraps, we are able to keep the guest engaged in experiential destination spa travel. All of these in combination promote the best guest user experience. The Spa at Séc-he acts as an educational wellness spa, introducing guests to treatments and services they may never have experienced.
How has the response to the Gharieni products been?
Guest reaction is typically one of surprise at not seeing equipment of this level incorporated into standard use. They’ve also expressed a sense of high value for the service being provided, as the equipment adds much more experiential value.

Spa guests looking for a unique experience love the MLX Quartz, and the Welnamis table gets a lot of attention, with guests returning to the property for facials due to the built-in experience amenities. The Welnamis and Satori Loungers continue to be a highlight in our acoustic wellness room and part of the daily wellness circuit that guests use and return to throughout the day. The Pedispa Square is very popular when guests realize how much more relaxing a pedicure is lying down instead of sitting up for an hour.
Gharieni’s tables also get consistent interest from media, both visually and experientially. The Quartz picks up a lot of visuals as does Welnamis, while the Welnamis and Satori Loungers have been written about by journalists detailing what they experienced and how it benefits the spa day.
Is there anything you can point to in terms of ROI on the Gharieni products?
The investment return comes in multiple directions. Guest experience ensures satisfied guests, which drives return – and also those guests promoting us to others, which is seen in our operations. Service prices can be increased for a consistent revenue stream built into the menu. Marketing and media is driven exponentially when they have more interesting material to market and write about.
I found this to be the case when I brought Gharieni into our sister spa, The Sunstone Spa, which is a Forbes 5 Star Spa that also carries the Gharieni collection. It’s the consistent compounding results that the brand offers that continues the recognition and revenues to validate the brand’s purpose in the space.

The Royal Scotsman, A Belmond Train, has partnered with Dior Beauty to create the Dior Spa Royal Scotsman, which debuted this year on-board the Scottish train.
In homage to Christian Dior’s love for Scotland – where he famously hosted his much acclaimed fashion show in 1955 – the new Dior Spa Royal Scotsman is housed in one of the train’s plush carriages. Dior Spa’s expert body massage D-Travel is designed to purify the body of toxins and release tension through deep, slow and soothing movements that ultimately relieve muscular pain. Inspired by the Scottish landscape, the D-Elements full body treatment combines the country's natural beauty in all its glory to achieve a sense of mind and body relaxation. The treatment begins with the application of semi-precious hot stones on the back to create a sense of warmth, followed by massage strokes that simulate a cooling breeze. Bain Dior body mist and hot oshibori that recreate the country’s drifting mists end the treatment on a calming note.
For those seeking a rejuvenating facial, the D-Highlands is inspired by Kobido facial massage techniques and thanks to the application of Dior Prestige line, it sculpts the face’s features and improves the skin’s appearance.

How did you get involved in the wellness industry?
I have a passion for helping women succeed in the wellness and beauty industries, but I see so many talented and passionate women who are struggling to structure their businesses. I'm passionate about sharing my knowledge and experience with other women – I want to help them to build successful businesses that allow them to live their best lives.
What inspired you to create the “Money-Making Front Desk”?
The front desk is the ‘Golden Gate’ to your business; it's the first point of contact for most customers, and it sets the tone for their entire experience. A well-managed front desk can help you attract and retain customers, increase sales, and contribute to the overall success of your business.. If you want to create a flourishing business, you should create a money-making front desk first. This means investing in training, creating and implementing clear processes, giving your staff the tools they need to be successful, empowering your staff to make decisions, and tracking your results.
What consultancy services do you offer?
In addition to my training programs and one-on-one and group coaching services, I also offer the following services:
• Mystery calls and visits to assess the performance of their front desk staff and the overall customer experience.
• Auditing business results to identify areas where they can improve their efficiency and profitability.
• Developing and implementing strategies to maintain their success.
How do you build and maintian relationships with clients?
The most important factors for both building and maintaining long-term relationships with clients are trust,
communication, and commitment. It is important to be honest and transparent with your clients. You need to be able to communicate effectively with them and understand their needs. You also need to be committed to providing them with the best possible service, over-deliver on customer expectations, and be accountable for your actions.
What do you see in the future of the wellness industry?
I envision a future where the wellness industry is even more focused on helping people to achieve their health and wellness goals, with technology playing a bigger role in the future., and 'm positioning myself to adapt and thrive in this landscape by staying up-to-date on the latest trends and technologies. I'm also developing new training programs that will help front desk staff to be more effective in their roles in the future. The wellness industry is a growing and exciting industry, with a place for everyone. There are many opportunities for entrepreneurs and professionals who are passionate about helping people to achieve their health and wellness goals. What led you to become involved in the wellness industry?
I first became interested in the beauty and wellness industry after working as a beautician with a shop at home. During this experience, I realized how healing, transformative, and life-changing beauty treatments can be, both for the recipient and for the person providing the service. Realizing the potential of beauty and wellness as an industry sparked my passion and ambition to learn more and eventually launch and lead my own business. I started Blue Diamonds Health and Beauty to focus on promoting and providing natural beauty remedies, treatments, and services that offer a sustainable and healthier approach to beauty. Our goal is to provide affordable, natural, and effective skincare and bodycare solutions that are tailored to the individual needs of each customer.
What makes Blue Diamonds unique?
Blue Diamonds is unique because we listen intently to our customers' needs and desires, and we customize treatments and services to meet each individual's specific health and wellness objectives. We also pride ourselves on providing comprehensive and personal care. And importantly, our facility is equipped with innovative, state-of-theart technology and amenities, creating a tranquil and comfortable atmosphere.
What elements do you believe create a truly transformative and rejuvenating wellness experience?
A nurturing and supportive environment needs to be fostered so that clients feel safe and comfortable during their wellness experience. It is important to create a judgment-free space and provide reassurance to clients that their personal concerns are respected and valued. Positive experiences are often influenced by the quality of the relationship between staff and clients, so professional, caring staff with holistic knowledge and qualifications are key. It’s also important to have a well-rounded wellness program that includes a relaxation and stress-reduction element, as well as quality amenities. Personalized experiences can help to elevate a wellness program, and providing services that are easily accessible and available to different age and ability levels can help to create an inclusive and empowering experience for clients.
How do you select your products, equipment, and treatments, to ensure the highest level of quality and efficacy?
I always look for reputable industry certifications when selecting any beauty product, equipment, or treatment. These certifications verify that the product meets all safety and quality standards required by the industry. Another great way to ensure the highest level of quality and efficacy
is to read customer reviews online. This allows us to verify how previous clients have liked the product. I also consider the price of the product, as often, the price reflects the quality, and I look for products that offer high quality at an affordable cost.
What role does technology play in your operations, and how do you balance its use?
Technology plays a huge role in the health and beauty operations. It allows businesses to easily access customer information, create targeted campaigns, automate routine processes, track performance, streamline communication, and more. By utilizing technology, companies can provide a better customer experience while significantly reducing costs associated with operations. The key to balancing technology use is to use it to elevate customer experiences, not replace traditional operations. For example, using technology to automate customer databases, track inventory, and manage customer loyalty is a great way to save money and create better customer experiences. Technology should also be used to create unique and personalized experiences and personalized product recommendations. Lastly,
technology should be used to enhance customer feedback and engagement, such as providing in-app surveys and allowing customers to provide feedback after their purchase.
Can you tell us about some success stories?
We’ve had lots of success using the i3Dome, Quartz bed and Welnamis for a wide variety of issues. I have a customer who has stage 4 cancer in her spine. She came to us with low energy and lots of pain, but after using the i3Dome, she has less pain and more energy. Another customer has two prosthetic knees, and was also suffering with psoriasis on her back, arms and legs, which meant she only slept for about two hours a night. After using the i3Dome, having massage on the Quartz bed, and using Welnamis two times a week for three weeks, her psoriasis was gone, her pain was diminished, and she was sleeping six hours a night. And I have another customer who was suffering from panic attacks who found that using the Welnamis has really helped. These stories provide an encouraging reminder of the power of modern, natural therapies to help improve the lives of those in need.

Education in the art of skincare by the French seaside
French skincare brand Phytomer has opened a new training center that is set to welcome thousands of spa practitioners. Located opposite the company’s historic headquarters just a stone's throw from Saint-Malo's most beautiful beaches, the Phytomer Training Centre has been completely redesigned with the help of architect Dominique Tosiani to provide maximum comfort for the brand’s trainee beauticians.
This new space offers customers an ultraimmersive experience in the cocooned, refined world that the brand cultivates in its own spas. It occupies 250 square meters and can accommodate up to 28 trainees, and is equipped with eight of Gharieni’s Classic Standard Soft - Thermo beds.
“We chose Gharieni beds because they are aesthetically the most stylish and elegant ones, with a premium finish that makes all the difference,” says Tristan Lagarde, Deputy General Manager of Phytomer. “Their comfort is always acclaimed not only by clients, but also by practitioners in their use and functionality. In the depth of the Andalusian hills in Spain, picturesquely located between Malaga and Marbella, lies La Zambra, a 5-star hotel which is part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt. Named after a Flamenco dance, the hotel is a resort that awakens the senses and encourages guests to be themselves. The hotel features 196 spacious rooms and suites, all with terraces and bathed in natural light.
The hotel’s 2,000-square-meter Mood Spa is one of the largest on the Costa del Sol, and is equipped with Gharieni furniture, including the MO1 Max and 601 treatment beds. Designed as a sanctuary to recharge body and mind, the spa has created five journeys to improve wellbeing, using natural, holistic and innovative techniques. Also included are jacuzzis, a hammam, sauna and swimming pool, as well as a spa courtyard and yoga and Pilates classes.

The Botanic Sanctuary in Antwerp is a futureoriented wellness concept that reflects a healthy approach to life. Treatments and retreats are designed to heal the spirit, free the mind, explore nature, enable lifestyle changes, and help guests to feel reborn.
Set in a 15th-century monastery and chapel that has been transformed into a hotel and spa, the focus is on community, healing and comfort.
The Botanic Health Spa is set over three floors, and includes 10 treatment rooms equipped with Gharieni’s MLR Select Alu beds. The spa features a pool and relaxation spaces, infrared loungers, a fireplace, waterbeds, a botanical shower experience, a whirlpool, vitamin and herbal bars, a historicallyinspired steamroom, panoramic Finnish sauna, textile sauna, salt and mineral sauna and a Kneipp walk.
The Botanical Garden and monastic heritage are integral to the wellness philosophy, with Traditional
European Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Monastic Medicine, spiritual healing, high-performance coaching, health coaching, and bespoke customised journeys all on offer. The Dorchester Collection’s Parisian outpost, Hôtel Plaza Athénée, has refreshed its Dior spa with new facilities and programming. The Gharieni-equipped spa features five single treatment rooms, a couple’s treatment room, a sauna and a hammam. First launched in 2008, the Dior Spa Plaza Athénée is the luxury brand’s flagship spa.
The spa is also home to a new Dior Light Suite, featuring an LED-studded ceiling that mimics the natural light produced by the sun.The technology is designed to provide guests with the ideal daily amount of sunlight to help realign their biological clocks, alleviate stress and restore energy.
The spa menu has also been expanded, with treatments such as the Le Soin Dior Privé Sur-Demande, which includes electrostimulation and/or cryotherapy.
Originally a fashion house, the LVMH-owned Dior brand has expanded into the world of spa and beauty in recent years and now includes three branded spas, a skincare line, a makeup collection and a perfume range.
