Thermal oasis planned for Milan

Terme & Spa Italia, manager of Tuscany's Terme di Saturnia, is embarking on an ambitious urban wellness venture in Milan to create Italy’s largest urban thermal and wellness complex.

The project, set to open in 2025, will come to fruition following a €50 million (US$54 million, £42.5 million) investment by the Infrastructures for Growth fund of Azimut Libera Impresa SGR (Azimut Group) in partnership with Terme & Spa Italia.

The new facility, called De Montel Terme di Milano, will be housed in the sensitively restored Scuderie De Montel, formerly one of Italy's most renowned equestrian centres.

Designed in 1920 by architect Vietti Violi in the Art Nouveau style, the stables were initially built for the affluent De Montel banking

family and served as quarters for thoroughbreds and Royal Cavalry regiments. However, the structure fell into disrepair after WWII and was abandoned in the 1970s.

Now, 50 years later, the buildings are being revitalised with a new purpose. De Montel Terme di Milano

will accommodate 700 guests and feature 10 thermal pools supplied by an underground geothermal spring. The pools will be complemented by a 16-treatment-room spa, nine relaxation areas, four saunas, a steam bath and a large hammam.

“We've entered a new era in nutritional supplementation over the last six years, where it’s become clear that one-size-fits-all solutions are simply inefficient,” said Vadim Fedotov, co-founder and CEO of Bioniq. “Everyone's health journey is unique and fluid.

“Our biochemical database allow us to create customised supplements that provide quantifiable results and cater to individuals’ specific needs. Beyond meeting consumer demand, we’re setting a new standard in the industry by making the process and results transparent to users.”

■ The onsen was the first public bathhouse in Japan to be designated a property of cultural importance in 1994

Restoring an icon

A historic Japanese bathhouse fed by legendary hot springs has completed a five-year refurbishment

One of Japan’s oldest public bathhouses, Dōgo Onsen Honkan, has completed a comprehensive renovation project ahead of schedule. Fed by 3,000-year-old hot springs referenced in ancient Japanese texts, the iconic onsen is located in the city of Matsuyama on Shikoku Island

The facility opened in 1894 and became the first public bathhouse in Japan to be designated a property of cultural importance in 1994.

Since January 2019, the onsen has undergone extensive conservation repairs while remaining partially open to the public. The wooden structure, spanning three levels and featuring three additional wings added since its inception, has been refreshed with updated facilities and interiors, including intricate Tobe porcelain panel wall murals.

The renovation also includes new pipework, structural reinforcement for earthquake resistance and roofing updates to future-proof the building.

Additionally, the space has been expanded with two new bookable private relaxation rooms and a retail area.

Facilities

Dōgo Onsen Honkan’s first floor features two baths for men and women, respectively, with a further bath for each gender on the second floor.

Guests can also access two relaxation rooms, including a 70-person space, an onsen artefact exhibition, four private relaxation rooms and locker rooms.

A key attraction at the onsen is the Yushinden, a dedicated wing claimed to be the only bathhouse in Japan reserved for the Imperial Household.

The opulent space features interiors decorated in an abundance of gold- and silver-leaf and includes a throne room, a living room and a bathing suite.

Maintaining its traditions, the bathhouse opens daily at 6 AM with the striking of a Tokidaiko drum located on the roof, a custom which has been kept up since 1894.

Hot spring heaven

The Dōgo area features 18 hot springs and is home to two other onsens called Tsubaki-no-Yu and Asuka-no-Yu.

Both are sister properties of Dōgo Onsen Honkan and feature a range of bathing facilities and relaxation spaces.

Defined by traditional Japanese architecture and artwork, all three spaces o er a range of 90-minute day passes including access to baths, towel and yukata (robe) rental and a selection of Japanese tea and sweets. ●

Biologique Recherche is showcasing its new triple-action serum designed to firm, plump and re-contour with a new treatment protocol

Introducing the latest breakthrough from esteemed French skincare brand, Biologique Recherche. Called Lift Buste 3D, it’s a targeted serum that exemplifies the brand’s commitment to innovation and excellence in skincare.

Crafted with precision and backed by extensive research, Lift Buste 3D has been specially formulated to address the unique needs of the décolleté and buttock areas.

Biologique Recherche maintained an unwavering commitment to efficacy and evidence-based results during the product’s development, as Hélène Huguet, head of R&D explains: “Our R&D team is dedicated to bringing pioneering products to market, grounded in the latest advancements in skin biology research,” she says. “Collaborating with a diverse panel of medical experts was crucial to ensuring the serum’s efficacy and safety throughout the development process.

“Our team worked closely with a panel of medical experts, including a surgeon, a senologist, an oncologist, a socio-aesthetician and a

gynaecologist-obstetrician to rigorously test and validate both the serum and protocols for its use,” she says.

The triple-action serum delivers:

n Plumping: Creates a noticeable lifting effect as the chest area is volumised, while the buttocks are delicately reshaped and enhanced.

n Smoothing: Reduces wrinkles and achieves instantly smoother décolleté skin, thanks to the serum’s powerful smoothing properties.

n Firming: Combats sagging and restores skin elasticity. Strengthens and enhances the chest area while achieving firmer buttocks.

EXPERT FORMULA

Key ingredients include adipactiv, arctic peptide, vectorised hyaluronic acid, myorelax peptide and organic silicon complex, in addition to extracts of cassava, chlorella and sugar cane.

To celebrate the release of Lift Buste 3D serum, Biologique Recherche has also introduced the expert ‘Soin Lift Buste 3D firming treatment’, an enhancement to its signature facial protocols for delivery in spas.

The protocol complements the brand’s signature facials

Our team worked closely with medical experts to test and validate this serum

This Soin Lift Buste 3D facial upgrade has been meticulously designed to combat sagging, defend against visible signs of ageing and preserve the contours of the bust, décolleté, arms and chest.

PROFESSIONAL PROTOCOL

Central to this transformative treatment is the Remodelling Face process, an advanced bio-electronic therapy that utilises the synergy of four distinct currents. These work together to enhance volume and produce a noticeable lifting effect, delivering enduring results.

Every Biologique Recherche treatment begins with a comprehensive dermo-cosmetic diagnosis by the therapist, using the innovative Skin Instant Lab system. This thorough analysis identifies subtle changes in the client’s skin, forming the basis for personalised care.

Visual assessments, precise measurements and detailed questionnaires further tailor a bespoke treatment protocol that aligns perfectly with the guest’s unique skincare needs.

Biologique Recherche emphasises that unlocking the full potential of this new product and treatment protocol requires professional expertise, a deep understanding of muscular anatomy, a meticulous methodology and a keen awareness of volume and contour. The result is skin that feels visibly lifted, firmer and imbued with a youthful plumpness.

Spa guests can enjoy the transformative power of Lift Buste 3D serum and the Soin Lift Buste 3D firming treatment, where innovation meets exceptional care for unparalleled beauty enhancement. l More: https://www.biologique-recherche.com/en-gb/
