Watch Video Here By Connie Suggitt Guinness World Records have been travelling around Europe filming some of the continent's most astonishing record holders. Freising, Germany, was next on their video team's list. There they met up with Benedikt Mordstein, a professional breakdancer who is a prolific record holder. At just 24 years old, Benedikt has already broken seven Guinness World Records titles: • Most consecutive elbow hops (breakdance), • Most consecutive elbow spins - breakdance, • The most jackhammer hops (breakdancing) in one minute, • The fastest 20m performing breakdance flairs, • The fastest time to type a text message (SMS) on a mobile phone while performing head spins (breakdance), • Most one hand jumps/hops with a clap in one minute, • Most backflips in one minute (team). He currently holds five of these records. Benedikt knew from an early age that he wanted to be a professional breakdancer, but never thought he would be a record-breaking one. "I saw someone break-dancing at an event, and I was like, wow, that's so crazy! He's standing upside down, spinning on one hand... I said 'this is what I want to do' and then I started to train." Benedikt broke his first record, Most consecutive elbow hops (breakdance), in 2011 when he was just 17. Though this record was later broken in 2015 by Takahiro Igarashi in Japan, Benedikt reflected on what his first Guinness World Records title meant to him with our video team. "I always got a Guinness World Records book for Christmas from my parents. I always thought it was crazy what the people were doing, how long they had to train. And then, at the age of 17, I broke my first record - it was just unbelievable to me." The idea for the record attempt Fastest time to type a text message (SMS) on a mobile phone while performing head spins (breakdance), was born from Benedikt and his friends training to perfect the head spin move. "I started training really early to head spin, and then we were having fun in training, taking pictures of ourselves and calling each other while we were doing it, just having fun. And then I thought, yeah, let's do it as a record!" While the video team were with him, he took the opportunity to attempt to break two records. Firstly, he wanted to beat his previous time for Fastest time to type a text message (SMS) on a mobile phone while performing head spins (breakdance). For this record, a mobile phone with a push button key pad must be used. The text cannot contain any spelling errors or typos. Unfortunately, after three attempts, Benedikt was unable to top his own time of 56.65 seconds. He also wanted to try and break a new record, Most kip-ups in one minute (breakdance). "Because the head spin one was already mine, I was a little bit more chilled because I couldn't lose it. I just wanted to do that little bit better. The kip-up one wasn't mine, so I was nervous. It was also the first time I had attempted this record." On his third attempt, Benedikt managed 37 kip-ups, tying with the then current record holder, Prabhakar Reddy P of India. However, since filming, the record was broken again by Farhan Ayub of Pakistan, with 39 kip-ups. However, Benedikt is determined to retain the title, and after breaking the record said: "If someone breaks my record, I will definitely train as hard as possible to bring it back to me." Benedikt shared with our video team how his family's support for his unorthodox career choice, despite early reservations, shaped his success. "My family always supported me and made so much possible for me... still now they accept that this is my job. At the beginning they did ask 'don't you want to do something normal, something regular?' and I was like 'no, I want to do this!'. I'm not getting rich from it, but I'm happy. It's perfect." 2
Kosie? Nou vanoggend voel ek soos so 'n oorvol kosie, as jy aan my raak of met my praat gaan ek oorloop. Klonkie het Kaapstad toe gevlieg, en toe ek hom afsien en omdraai, kom lê daai grooooot verlantenheid in my binneste, wat 'n mens altyd gekry het as die trein so wegry en die stasie begin leeg loop. Heng daar is mos niks so verlate soos 'n stasie nie.

Meghan Overdeep There’s a lot to love about individually wrapped pieces of frozen fish: they’re easy to store, prepare and portion. But what if we told you that those handy vacuum-sealed filets also pose a huge hidden health risk? Eeek! Few people realize that thawing fish in its packaging presents a high risk for botulism. Clostridium botulinum is an anaerobic bacteria that forms spores that allow it to thrive in low-oxygen environments—like the ones created by vacuum-sealed packages. When the right conditions are present, the spore can produce a deadly toxin. That toxin causes botulism, a lifethreatening disease that attacks the nervous system. The warmer the temperature, the quicker the toxin forms. And when temperatures rise above 38 degrees Fahrenheit—i.e., the moment you remove it from the refrigerator—the risk for botulism increases greatly. Luckily, exposing the fish to oxygen by removing it from its packaging can stop the spores in their tracks. According to the Food and Drug Administration, the safest way to defrost your frozen fish is overnight in the refrigerator (the temperature should be set below 38 degrees anyway), but if for some reason you take an alternate route, always remove the packaging first.

By Andrew Joseph Venues are going to need to expand their long-jump pits whenever 19-year-old Juan Miguel Echevarria comes to town. During the weekend's Diamond League, the Cuban teenager unleashed a jawdropping 8.83-meter jump. It was the longest-recorded jump in any condition since 1995. He nearly jumped clear over the pit in the process. Just wow. Echevarria was practically flying. According to Sports Illustrated, Echevarria's jump won't be allowed for official record consideration (it would have been fifth all-time) because the jump was aided by 2.1 meters per second of wind. The maximum threshold for records is 2 meters per second. Either way, that jump was ridiculous. The world record is 8.95 meters. 6

Do you like Ice Cream? What about Yoghurt? Mozarella Cheese? Cheddar? Munster? Do white sauces on pasta make you drool? Is your coffee not complete without a rich pour of half and half? When you get up in the morning are you already hungry for your toast with a delicious smear of butter? Maybe you’re a fan of custard. If any of these made you perk up and your mouth start to water, then congratulations, Dairy Month is dedicated to celebrating all of your favorite treats! History of Dairy Month Studying the history of Dairy takes us back far into the past, as dairy products have been with us since we first learned to domesticate an animal. You could even take it back a bit further and realize that the first food eaten by our most ancient ancestors was milk drawn from their mother’s breast. From there on out milk has been there to help us grow strong, healthy, and enjoy some amazing and delicious treats. 1937 saw the establishment of Dairy Month, a campaign to help encourage people to strengthen bones and build a foundation of good health by drinking rich, creamy, healthful milk. Throughout the nation dairy farmers start preparing to share the wonderful things that are included in the long and broad range of Dairy products.
These intrepid farmers are just the latest in a long line of dairy farmers going far back into history. Nomads originally used the milk from the animals that travelled with them as an important part of their nutrition. When we finally settled in rural communities we began agriculture, and with it we increased milk-production and it became even more a part of our lives and diet. Eventually, as the world expanded and became industrialized, we created commercial milk industries to ensure there was enough for everyone. Dairy Month celebrates everyone engaged in this industry and the influence it had stretching back through the centuries. How to Celebrate Dairy Month Celebrating Dairy Month is simple and incredibly delicious! Go out today and make sure you buy and indulge in some of your favorite dairy products. Start your day with a great big bowl of cereal with ice cold milk poured on, in the middle of the day stop and have yourself a delicious fruit and yoghurt cup for a healthy boost, and follow dinner with a creamy bowl of ice cream in your favorite flavor. Finally, make sure at some point during your day you thank a dairy farmer, or even pet a cow to remember where this amazing part of our diets comes from. 8

17-year-old Desmond quickly realized the man sitting on the edge of the bridge was planning to end his life. So he struck up a conversation. It was 9 p.m. on a dark, chilly night in November 2015. Desmond Powell, then 17, was walking home from a basketball game along an empty seven-lane road in Manchester, New Hampshire; he was looking forward to seeing his mom and grabbing dinner. As he approached the Granite Street Bridge, he noticed something peculiar—a person was sitting on the cement railing, legs dangling over the Merrimack River, about 100 feet below. “At first I thought he was just hanging out. But as I got closer, I heard him muttering. Then I clearly heard ‘I’m just gonna jump,’” says Powell. The stranger was slender, probably in his 20s, Powell thought. He wore dark clothing, and his red hair was topped by a baseball cap. “Hey, buddy, what are you doing?” Powell asked. He kept his distance, standing about six feet away so as not to spook the stranger. “I’m gonna jump,” the guy said. “His voice had pain in it, but I could tell he didn’t really want to do this. He just felt there wasn’t any other way,” says Powell. (Suicidal thoughts often stem from depression. Powell sought to engage him. “You have any kids?” Without turning to look at Powell, the stranger pulled up a picture of his daughter on his cell phone. She looked to be two years old. “Think about how losing her dad at a young age will affect her,” Powell suggested. Over the next ten minutes they talked, the stranger alternating between crying and staring vacantly at the churning black -water below. “My heart was racing, but I stayed collected,” says Powell. By doing so, he teased out the source of the stranger’s troubles. “I’m having a rough time,” the stranger said. “I can’t make any money, I’m hungry, and I’m addicted to heroin.” Powell, who by this point had inched closer to the stranger, assured him that he cared and that others would care, too, if he leaped into the river. Something about Powell’s calm, earnest entreaty caused the stranger to finally turn and look at him. -Powell, now about two feet from the stranger, held out his hand and left it there. “I felt I could grab him in time if he jumped, but I also wanted him to know that I was there for him,” he says. To his surprise, the stranger took his hand and climbed down. “Let me buy you something to eat,” Powell said. “I’m Desmond.” They walked a few minutes to a Dunkin’ Donuts. As they sat down to eat, someone who’d overheard Powell talk about the stranger’s sad story suggested that the police be called. Afraid he might be arrested, the stranger bolted from the restaurant. “Come back!” Powell yelled. But he was gone before Powell could stop him. Powell scoured the area, looking for the stranger. While searching a parking lot, he heard “Hey, Desmond.” It was the stranger. “I’m sorry, man. I panicked.” Then, after a pause: “Can you call the police so I can get help?” The two waited together on the street until the police arrived. During that time, the stranger turned the tables on Powell. “He asked me about my life and goals,” says Powell. Fifteen minutes later, Powell watched the police drive the stranger away. He never did get his name, nor does he know what became of him. But Powell, who was honored by the city of Manchester for his caring response, will always remember the last words the stranger said to him. As he climbed into the patrol car, he turned to Powell. “Thank you,” he said. “You really are a hero to me.”

Hoekom hoor Hy my nie? Hy is vol vreugde oor jou, Hy is stil-tevrede in sy liefde. Hy jubel en juig oor jou:” Hoe wonderlik as God bevestig. “Ek is by jou. Ek sal jou red. Hy red ALTYD! My beste is genoeg, want God self het dit besluit. In Jesus is ek en my gesin, prysenswaardig suksesvol!” 13

An egg yolk's color can range from pale yellow to deep orange. We break down eggs-actly why that happens, and what color means for flavor and nutrition. Eggshells can come in a rainbow of colors, but did you know that egg yolks come in a variety of shades as well? We’ve all seen the pale yellow yolks found in store-bought cartons, and you’ve likely encountered the richly hued orange yolks when you pick up eggs at a farmers market. Either way, they make for a tasty morning scrambled egg feast! But do you ever wonder why some yolks are darker than others? Stick around and we’ll break it down for you. The Secret Behind Egg Yolk Color Despite this common misconception, the exact shade of your egg yolk has nothing to do with the chicken breed—although it can affect the color of the eggshell. The shade of an egg yolk is completely determined by the hen’s diet. Hens that are given feed full of yellow-orange pigments will lay eggs with darker yolks. It’s as simple as that! No artificial coloring is allowed in chicken feed, but some farmers will add marigold petals to give yolks an orangey color boost. Reddish yolks are made possible by adding capsicum (i.e. red bell peppers) to chicken feed, and throwing in a dash of paprika can have the same effect. What Egg Yolk Color Means for Your Health OK, so now we know why yolks can vary in color. But does a darker yolk mean a more nutrientrich egg? You may be surprised to find out that this actually isn’t the case! A pale yellow yolk and a deep orange-gold yolk will have the same amount of protein and fat, although a darker yolk may mean more vitamins and less cholesterol. But the jury is still out on that one. That said, some folks swear (the author included!) that the darker the yolk, the tastier the egg. You may not notice it as much in a hearty breakfast casserole, but when it comes to a relatively simple French omelet with a few ingredients, an egg with a darker yolk can give your breakfast a major flavor boost.
Regardless of the color of your yolk, eggs are a great way to get extra protein in your diet.
