…….sleeping in Field After 12-Hour Search — with Loyal Dog by Her Side Dave Quinn Roughly 100 volunteers and two helicopters were searching with police in Butler County, Missouri, for a 3-year-old girl who went missing from her home in Qulin on last Thursday night. When she was found almost 12 hours later, sleeping in the rows of a cornfield, her family was relieved to see that she wasn’t alone: The girl’s pet Yorkshire Terrier, Fat Heath, was by her side. Remy Elliott had wandered off in the cornfield surrounding her house around 8 p.m, local CBS affiliate KFVS reported. “I looked for her by myself thinking maybe she was just in the woods or somewhere where I just couldn’t see her,” Remy’s mom, Timber Merritt, told the outlet. “And I was calling for her and calling for her, and when she wasn’t calling back I realized I don’t think I’m going to find her on my own.” Merritt reached out to friends, family and local law enforcement for help. Soon, a search party had formed. “It went from five people to about 75 to 100 people out here by the time we were done,” Merritt said. “It was stressful and emotional,” family friend John Copp told KFVS. “We were all just walking back and forth from one end to the other just yelling her name. All the flashlights started dying and the sheriff’s office decided to call if for the night.” The problem was, the rows of corn can act as sound barriers, volunteer Makayla Hardcastle explained to the news station. “The corn feels like razor blades cutting you, especially for a child,” she said. “And you don’t hear well in the corn either, so when somebody is yelling your name you can hear them but you don’t know where it is coming from.”
It was Merritt’s brother, Quinlin, who eventually found Remy. She and her dog, Fat Heath, were sleeping on some broken corn stalks about half a mile away the house. “She was definitely exhausted, hot, really sweaty and it took a while to drink anything,” Merritt told KFVS. “She said she wasn’t scared because Fat Heath was there. If he wasn’t I think she would’ve been terrified.” Remy was taken to the Black River Medical Center in Poplar Bluff and later checked out. She didn’t have any reported injuries, aside from a sea of mosquito bites. “I’ve never seen that many mosquito bites,” Merritt told the outlet. “We are going to give her a bath and keep putting medicine on it.” Merrit added that the entire experience of searching for her daughter was stressful. “I feel a lot better, especially since we know she is okay,” Merritt revealed to KFVS. “She is back to her normal self now.” To make sure it doesn’t happen again, the family will “hopefully put a fence around the yard, or keep her inside,” the mother of three added with a laugh. 2
"Bom"... Hier het 'n bom teen my huis ontplof… Ek het letterlik uit my bed geval, duvet om my voete en kop wat "kadoef" teen die bedkassie kap. Ek is vir 'n oomblik so deurmekaar, dat ek nie weet of ek 'n dogtertjie of 'n seuntjie is nie… Genadiglik is die kinders met vakansie by my Ma in Walvisbaai... Dit is altyd 'n mens se grootste vrees gewees daarbo, jou kinders. Net toe ek die moed bymekaar skraap, gaan daar 'n motor se toeter af, weer by my venster. Rika xx 3

New York restaurant Serendipity 3 has crafted a deliciously decadent creation which has amounted to the world’s Most expensive milkshake. Available for ordering as of Wednesday, 20 June), known as National Vanilla Milkshake Day in the US, Serendipity 3’s LUXE Milkshake has set the new record with a value of $100 USD. Created for the national day, this lavish milkshake contains some very expensive ingredients which help make this treat so exclusive? Those who order the LUXE Milkshake will have the luxurious blend served in a custom glass adorned with more than 3,000 premium Swarovski® crystals designed by Master Artist and Kellie DeFries, the ‘Crystal Ninja’. Behind the restaurant’s latest extravagancy is none other than chef, Joe Calderone, who has designed several of Serendipity 3’s record breaking dishes. For this title, each ingredient was individually selected by the chef for its unique and delectable qualities: • Jersey milk – made from cows originally bred in the Channel Islands, which are popular for the high butterfat content • Tahitian vanilla ice cream – sourced from premium slow-grown, sun-cured vanilla beans • Devonshire luxury clotted cream – produced in Devon, England, this thick and rich cream is made from heating fine milk until a thick layer of golden cream forms on the surface • Madagascar vanilla beans – as the most labour intensive to grow, the Madagascar vanilla plants, Vanilla Planifolia, take up to three years to produce beans that are intense in flavour • 23 karat edible gold – this pure and edible gold creates a glimmering, golden sparkle when mixed with the other ingredients • Whipped cream – a grass-fed cream, infused with a simple syrup of sugar and vanilla • Le Cremose Baldizzone (donkey caramel sauce) – this rare sauce that is sweet and unique in flavour is made from Venezuelan cocoa, Piedmont hazelnuts, fresh donkey’s milk, and cane sugar • Luxardo Gourmet Maraschino Cherries – produced in Luxardo, Italy, these cherries are dense and chewy with a sweet-tart flavour made with prized sour Marasca cherries and preserved in the fruit’s famed liquor "It is such a pleasure and such an honor to be awarded the Guinness World Records title for Most expensive milkshake. I am thrilled to add this accomplishment to our growing list of record-breaking food items. It was exciting to develop such a unique recipe and I hope our customers enjoy every drop of this creamy, rich milkshake," said Joe Calderone. For this record to be considered successful, the completed LUXE needed to be purchased. 6

It’s our favorite fruit, a lush, prickly, green leafed ground fruit that is a delicious addition to just about any meal. It’s sweet and tangy on its own and is practically the definition of the word ‘tropical’. Want to make something tropical? Put a slice of this fruit on it. That’s right, we’re talking about the apple that isn’t an apple, the pine that isn’t a pine, the pineapple! Pineapple day is dedicated to this most tantalizing little fruit and the greatest myth of all… It doesn’t grow on a tree. Didn’t know that? You’re hardly alone, most people think this prickly fruit hangs on a tree like a coconut, Nope! History of Pineapple Day Pineapples are a tropical fruit native to the America’s, first found being consumed by the Tupi people. Their word for the fruit perfectly describes everyone’s reaction to this ama-zingly tangy treat, nanas “Excellent Fruit”. Pineapples are actually herbaceous peren-nials, meaning they are leafy, not woody, plants that grow for more than two years. These plants are so ambitious in their growth that if you cut the fruit off of one stalk, it grows multiple more stalk called ‘suckers’ to produce more fruit! More than one pineapple per plant, that’s amazing! Since their discovery pineapples have been transported all over the world, as one of their unique traits is that, once harvested, they tend to not continue to ripen. This gives them an amazing shelf life and lets them remain stored on a shelf for quite some time. Pineapples are useful in so many things, from a stand-alone treat all on their own, to producing a very tasty fruit beverage full of vitamin C. If you’re the sort who likes a rich tropical beverage to cool you down on a hot day, then the Pineapple is half of the perfect solution, the Pina Colada… How to celebrate Pineapple Day Pineapple day is best celebrated by consuming this delicious fruit. You can have it in any number of ways, including freshly cut and eaten in slices. Or you can take it and use it to make an American favorite, the pineapple upside down cake, that’s a rich and delicious pineapple cake which you bake with slices of pineapple laid in the bottom of a pan along with a special sugary mixture that becomes the perfect topping when baked, then you turn the cake out of the pan onto a plate and voila! A wonderful cake topped with pineapple, who could ask for more! On Pineapple day? No one. 8

'n Ware storie daar vanuit Bethlehem, Vrystaat, se wêreld… “My naam is Abraham my lanie” antwoord hy. “Ek is honger my lanie.” “Hoe oud is jy Abraham?” “78 my lanie.” “Waar bly jy Abraham?” “Daar bo teen die berg” (Dis 8 km). “En jou mense, ou Abraham?” Net my vrou bly by my, mar sy bene kan nie meer werk nie nou kan sy nie uit die huis kom nie”. “Kry jy oumens pension, Abraham?” “Ja my lanie.” Ek dink by myself: ‘Is dit nou U HERE wat deur Abraham praat?’ Doen my, jouself en ander ‘n guns – en probeer net een dag niks kla nie, want ou Abraham was vandag vir my so ‘n groot inspirasie.
Mark Twain het nie verniet gese nie: “I can live for two months on a good compliment”. Hoe wonderlik om iemand so te mag groet!

If You Have 1 or More of These Symptoms, Then Yes Dominique Michelle Astorino
Are you eating too much sugar? Though the recommended daily amount of added sugar tops out at 25 grams (six teaspoons) for women, your body could be significantly more sensitive (and the truth is, many of us eat way, way more than the recommended daily max). But how can you tell if your sugar intake is higher than it should be? Because everyone's body is different, we'll each have different reactions to sugar intake - and each of us has a different personal "maximum." Clinical nutritionist and detox specialist Autumn Bates, CCN shared a few telltale signs you can keep an eye on to decide if it's time to cut back. Mood Swings If you haven't been feeling like the nicest or happiest version of yourself, your diet could be to blame. "A high-sugar diet can cause you to have severe mood swings," said Bates. This is "due to the rise and fall in blood glucose levels - think 'hangry'." We've been there! "This happens because sugar is absorbed much more quickly into your body than fat or protein, so this results in a surge of energy and a very sudden drop. That drop can cause you to feel moody, angry, anxious, annoyed, and really hungry." Limiting your intake of sweets could potentially balance out your mood and lead to more positive feelings overall. Acne Is sugar giving your skin a little #TBT to your middle school years? You thought you outgrew acne, but your diet had other plans for you? "[Ingesting] high levels of sugar has been linked to hormone imbalances," said Bates. "These imbalances can appear in a variety of ways, but one of the most common forms is acne." Plan of action: keep your skin routine the same, but just start reducing your sugar intake. Take some before and after photos to see if the diet overhaul is making a difference, and go from there. Headaches Ouch. Are you catching yourself reaching for NSAIDs and calling out of work with a migraine more than once a month? "Having a sudden spike, then drop in blood glucose levels (which happens with a high sugar diet) can trigger hypoglycemia," said Bates. "Common symptoms of hypoglycemia can include headaches or migraines. If you experience headaches often, you may be eating excessive amounts of sugar." Inability to Lose Weight If you're exercising constantly and eating pretty healthy but still not losing weight, it's time to reassess your diet's sugar levels. "Having a constant stream of sugar given to your body makes it impossible for your body to utilize it's own fat stores," she said. Want to burn fat? Time to ditch the sweets. "It's much easier for your body to use sugar as a source of energy when it's available, so a high sugar diet will make it extremely difficult to tap into energy stored as fat." Hormone Imbalances For women especially, a sugary diet could be linked with different hormonal issues - according to Bates, this is specifically true for women with PCOS, or polycysitc ovarian syndrome. "PCOS has become an epidemic with women in their 20s and 30s," she said. "The two main factors that have been traced back to PCOS are stress and excessive sugar intake." Fun fact: stress can also cause all of the aforementioned symptoms that sugar can . . . so eating sugar is almost like eating stress. "PCOS has been linked to insulin resistance, which can be caused by excessive sugar in the diet," said Bates. Keep in mind that even if your PCOS is not caused by sugar, you can potentially control the symptoms by reducing your intake. "One of the ways that I've seen PCOS controlled and sometimes reversed with my clients is by cutting out any additional sugar, reducing fruit intake, and limiting grain intake, especially refined grains - which ultimately get broken down into simple sugars in your body," said Bates.
