By Dan Thorne A photograph of a hen's egg has emerged victorious in a viral effort to surpass Kylie Jenner's record for the Most liked image on Instagram. The image was uploaded by the account 'world_record_egg' on Friday 4 January, posted with the caption: "Let's set a world record together and get the most liked post on Instagram. Beating the current world record held by Kylie Jenner (18 million)! We got this." Ten days later on Monday 14 January, the photo of the egg duly surpassed the reality TV star's total, reaching 30.5 million likes during that afternoon. Kylie Jenner set the record in February 2018 when her post announcing the arrival of her baby daughter, Stormi, topped 18 million likes. Responding to the new achievement on Instagram Stories, the anonymous account for the Egg Gang posted: "This is madness. What a time to be alive. Thank you so much for all of your support and messages. I'm gonna try and get back to as many of you as possible. But for now I need to sleep. It doesn't end here though, we're only just getting started. #EggGang Mic drop." Following hot on the heels of a new record for the Fastest time to gain one million followers on Instagram by K-Pop rising star Kang Daniel, excitement around the egg account grew as the possibility emerged that breaking the record held by a social media titan celebrity just might be possible. Kylie Jenner took it all in her stride, and responded by reposting an older video of her attempting to fry an egg on tarmac, along with the caption: "Take that little egg." Jenner still retains the record title for Highest annual earnings for a celebrity (female, current), which may be some comfort. In the social media world, prior to a recent update on Twitter, an image of an egg represented an account which had not yet uploaded a profile photo. In what could be interpreted as a reaction to celebrity dominance of social media, the egg-citement around the power of viral humour to achieve record glory was reminiscent of #NuggsForCarter on Twitter in 2017, which saw a request for a year's supply of chicken nuggets hit headlines around the world. A brief history of the most liked image on Instagram: • Will Smith and Justin Bieber set the record back in 2014 with their record-setting 1.5 million likes. • Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West then took the title with 2.4 million likes with their wedding photo in 2014 • Followed by Kendall Jenner’s rise from 2.6 million, then 3.1 million, topping out at 3.5 million likes on one of her posts • Beyoncé Knowles-Carter’s announcement of her pregnancy with Sir and Rumi Carter then received 7.3+ million likes in 2017, which was then broken by Kylie Jenner’s photo of her newborn daughter Stormi with 18+ million likes in 2018 2

Rachel Brougham Oh look, there’s gum stuck to the carpet. Or the bottom of your shoe. Or your child’s hair. Don’t fret—there is a tried-and -true way to get gum out of things. Oh, yeah—peanut butter! Peanut butter is a hero when it comes to removing gum. You usually have it on hand, it’s not expensive and it doesn’t smell bad, either. Spread some peanut butter on the offending glob and let it sit for a few minutes. The gum will soften up and be much easier to remove. This works especially well for gum stuck in hair. . 5

After a night's sleep, a woman woke up unable to hear all men's voices including that of her boyfriend, The Daily Mail reported last week. After a trip to the hospital, she was diagnosed with reverse-slope hearing loss, a rare condition that affects only about 3,000 people , according to Thigpen Hearing Center. Reverse-slope hearing loss occurs when a person can't hear low pitch noises, Patricia Johnson, a doctor of audiology, told INSIDER. The woman who was identified as Ms. Chen felt nauseous and heard ringing noises in her ears, so she decided to go to bed. The next morning, Chen woke up to find out she couldn't hear her boyfriend, or any men, for that matter. If you have reverse-slope hearing loss, you can't hear low-frequency sounds. Reverse-slope hearing loss occurs when a person can't hear low pitch noises, Patricia Johnson, a doctor of audiology, told INSIDER. This explains why Chen couldn't hear her boyfriend, as men's voices tend to be lower pitched than women's. This condition also affects how well a person can hear vowels. "Vowels sounds tend to have more low pitch energy compared to consonants and contribute more to our sense of loudness, while high pitched consonants contribute more to speech clarity and distinguishing between one word and another," Johnson explained. A number of factors can cause the condition. According to Johnson, there are three potential causes for reverseslope hearing loss. First, "a particular gene might cause certain hair cells to never develop in utero," Johnson said. The hairs she referred to play an important role in how a person perceives different pitches and if they are damaged, hearing will be compromised. Reverse-slope hearing loss may also be the result of another ear condition, like Mineire's Disease, which affects the fluid surrounding the hair cells, Johnson told INSIDER. Lastly, a person can develop the disorder suddenly, like Chen did. A sudden development could have to do with a viral infection, but sometimes the cause remains unknown, according to Johnson. There are some treatments for reverse-slope hearing loss, but people who inherited the condition genetically can't be treated. Unfortunately, there are few treatment options for reverse-slope hearing loss. According to Johnson, people who have the condition due to genetics cannot do anything to reverse the damage. If someone developed the condition overnight, however, an ear, nose, and throat (ENT) physician may be able to help by trying a "steroid injection through the ear drum," Johnson explained. In many cases, however, the effects of the condition are permanent. While symptoms can't always be reversed, the use of a hearing aid or implant can improve the quality of life of a person with hearing loss. "It is important that the patient receive personalized counseling regarding their communication difficulties in addition to any type of device," Johnson said, adding that a certified doctor of audiology is the best type of healthcare professional to see in this situation. People can prevent this rare form of hearing loss by protecting their ears. According to Johnson, any type of practice that is good for the heart is also good for the ears, like cardiovascular exercise. She also suggests being cautious in noisy environment, including when a person uses headphones.

Jenn Sinrich Words you should never say through a screen: “I love you” for the first time

Whether you’re a teenager, a 20something, or part of the 50+ crew, these three words should hold a lot of meaning, and certainly not be shared for the first time using as carefree of a method as a text or email. Additionally, what if the person doesn’t see the message for hours, or even days? How are you going to feel? Or, what if they don’t care to respond with an “I love you too?” Save yourself—and them—the grief of dealing with this scenario by saying those words in person instead. .

Liz Vaccariello Heartburn is caused by acid reflux, which is the regurgitation of partially digested liquids or foods that have mixed with stomach acid. This acidic mix makes its way into your esophagus and throat where it causes irritation. Anything that increases pressure on your abdomen can push the contents of your stomach up into the esophagus, including eating too much, obesity, and pregnancy. Occasional heartburn is nothing to worry about, but frequent heartburn can lead to chronic digestive disorders. How can you find heartburn relief? Here is a home remedy for heartburn to try: Chew gum. One of the best home remedies for heartburn is gum. Chewing gum increases your production of saliva, an alkaline that helps neutralize the acids in regurgitated foods that cause a burning sensation, giving you heartburn relief.

Eve Glover Get the hankies ready and the sound the cute alarms: This touching tale of animal friends will hit you right in the “aww” spot. Spotted friends: A spotted lamb who was abandoned by his own mother has found comfort and solace in an affectionate, maternal Dalmatian known as Zoe. The young Dorper sheep’s black and white coat is identical to the Dalmatian’s spots, and the pair has been inseparable since their first meeting. Zoe can be seen lovingly licking, nuzzling, and looking out for her adopted baby sheep. John Bolton, a breeder who lives on the farm in Australia that houses Zoe and the sheep, explains, “We’re not quite sure what we should call it, whether to call it a ‘sheep-matian’ or a ‘Dal-dorper!’

When she was 10, she never wanted to get married. Then, a handsome young man asked her to a Sunday school party…. My mother was a quiet, beautiful woman who loved God more than anything. She taught us about love, kindness, giving to others and sharing. All 12 of us kids attended the little Methodist church down the road every time its doors were open. When I was 13, my sister took me in to live with her and her husband. She told me that I didn’t have to go to church anymore, and at the time I thought that was great. Not many months had passed, however, before I knew in my heart I needed to go to church. So I asked my friend Janice if I could go with her family. She said yes, and I started attending Highview Baptist in 1951.

About a year went by. My Sunday school class was planning a skating party at our favorite skating rink. The following Sunday, as I was walking down the hall to class, I looked up to see the most handsome young man watching me. He was in the boys’ class. I smiled at him, and he smiled at me as I ducked into my classroom. After Sunday school, Janice and I went into church and sat down on the front pew. The boys’ class filed into the pew behind us, and he was there. I received a call the next day. How he got my number, I don’t know, but it was Lee, the handsome young man. He asked if I would go to the skating party with him. He couldn’t skate—but it didn’t matter, because I had fallen for him the first time I saw him. We dated for a year, went to church every Sunday and always held hands. And then we were married on October 23, 1953. Four years after marriage we had twin girls, four years later another girl, and later a boy. We adopted another son in 1982.

When I was about 10, I prayed, “God, please don’t let me get married, and if I have to, you pick him out; I don’t want to.” I know that He did! I never knew you could hold so much love in your heart for God, a husband, five children, 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Lee and I have been married over 60 years. We still attend Highview Baptist Church. And we hold hands every Sunday. 13

Say goodbye to tediously peeling clove after clove of garlic. You can microwave a whole head of garlic for about 20 seconds and the cloves will slip out of their peels effortlessly, without the garlicscented fingers.
